Fergus Russell's sketchbook
What the idea behind broccoli girl ? I am joking. But yeah what the idea behind ? She look like she taking inspiration from a censer. The design as interesting shape language to go with the idea of smoke but the hole are really in reality just decorative when you think about it when i feel they should have been design to have a function but hey that just me...

That smoke is a bit to solid i feel even for a stylize smoke adding some kind of swirl would probably help give it a more graphic smoke look instead of relying on opacity to sell the smoke. I feel the silhouette and the volume alone do not necessary feel like smoke.

I like that guy beat up that fun humor.

@darktiste - ye initially I had her fading into smoke and then wanted to pivot to it coming out of the holes but I ran out of time =.= it would have made so much more sense Q.Q ye swirls might have been a shout.

Starting to feel like drinking is taking over my life a little, so maybe it's time to quit. did this daily based of my bad habit, which felt cool to do.

The prompt was cosy

Amazing color control with these, just the right amount of saturation for a very natural look, very well done!

@darktiste - indeed

I'm no environmental guy, but this is my attempt after work. I definitely couldn't have imagined being able to do a piece like this in the afternoon at the start of the year. So I'm getting dead happy with my speed increase. i would love to get in way more detail but this is currently my limit in this time frame

Theme - climb

Ooh cool. I like the storytelling. The little plant guy is so cute!

Jesus dude, your work ethic is something else.

I really like the one with the ¨Shine¨ theme, looks quite stylish.

@Maxilla - Again, it's always awesome to see people from the CA days. I feel like I was so dependent on people's profile pics but I'm sure if you showed me your older work, I'd 100% remember XD

@Joseph Cow - the little plant guy is hype man. always hyping people in whatever endeavor :D

@Jaye23 - you would be terrified to meet our intern, she's half the reason I'm going full throttle as to not fall behind Q.Q feels like she's more my mentor than mine her's =.=

Falling behind in sketches, but that's me caught up now
Not the happiest with them, but their something.

theme - song & teeth

Sorry i choose violin to day.

Maybe the character's special ability is to stretch out inanimate objects, what then?!  Hmm?! But, perhaps it could have been a cello, but that doesn't lend itself well to the pun. Mean smile

Your improvement is amazing in 3 years and even more now! Those eyes are really gorgeous! Were the scratches on top via using a pen brush or pencil? Man, I really want to get into character design now, and you are just spitting them out like watermelon seeds. Haha. As I'm getting more into digital now, can I ask is your rendering style based on toggling/adjusting the opacity slider of the brushes? You have a translucent quality to your work, like digital watercolour. :)

The last peace with the pose and the atmosphere feels very melancholic.

@darktiste - I had that exact thought after I posted x.x

@Dominicque - Thank you for the kind words and DO IT!!!!! DRAW THEM CHARACTERS
 as for brushes, I mainly use a round brush with transfer on, but the pressure is set to 75% min then I have another with no min transfer and finally a normal airbrush. then I just randomly use textured/ line brushes at the end to add a tad of texture. I think the biggest thing for me is that I work really zoomed out 99% of the time. if you need anymore help just say ^^ I'm happy to help

Forgot to post the tomato one. and I really wanted to work on my layout as I'm seeing that up-and-coming artist seem to be amazing at presenting their work. I need way more experience with it.

also injured my neck so I've been stuck in bed for the last few days should be back at it again.

I have a Polish Cossack design I want to get to. Additionally, I'm going through the Nimrod Villar Domestika course that I bought ages ago to learn CSP. After learning a lot with the official course I'm already starting to brainstorm some fantasy hybrid character design concepts. That gives me an excuse to try.  Kiss [Negative critic- to the side!]

I'll have to look up what you mean my 'tranfer', as I only know about opacity. So, 1) Transfer on- 75 % pressure, 2) No pressure transfer, 3) airbrush 4) Textured line brushes to finish?
Thanks, I try to zoom out just to see how thinks are looking, but then I want to get in to line and define edges. I've been trying to return to the Centaur girl that I stopped with as I didn't know why the paint was appearing lighter. (Figured out it was, because an adjustment layer was active.  Stupid )  However compared to the other canvas the brushes are super pixelated and it's driving me mad. Probably better to start again, I just don't want the same thing to happen.  Rolling eyes, funny thought

I hope your neck recovers quickly! Just sleeping in a horrible position can ruin your day, so I hope it's not too serious. B210e58c

@Dominicque - I'll try make a wee tut to explain but ye transfer is just a setting in the brush settings for opacity in relation to pen pressure. I interchange between the first three brushes you mentioned at random almost and then leave the textured brushes till last. I always fall for the adjustment layer trickery, too.

Neck is getting better still not great sadly (I think I'm getting old) Q.Q

Theme was - pride

soooooooooooooo I did the meme. I'm so sorry
