Hey everyone, my real name is Josh Lockwood. I'm here to share my experience, to learn from others and to generally add to this awesome community.
I'm here because I believe in the idea that it takes a tribe to create something worthy of a wide audience...
But first a little backstory: I just left my studio job to pursue full-time freelance opportunities. That essentially means that it's time to start my 80's montage of sweaty, fevered, tablet-jockeying.
Hey folks. My name is Lance, I'm 32, living in beautiful Oregon USA, and I am ready to work my ass off! I've been drawing casually for most of my life, but just went full digital in March. That move to painting prompted me to scour the internet for lessons and tutorials. When I started listening to Dave and Dan I finally felt like someone was actually talking to me, not at me. They instilled in me two things 1) Devotion to fundamentals 2) Need for community. I'm here for heaping helpings of both.
Here are a couple of pieces to show where I'm at. I'm treating this site like an art dojo, so feel free to kick my ass and point out my weaknesses. I'm starting a study schedule tonight, and I'll be uploading to a CD sketchbook regularly. See you all on the forums!
Hey! Name's Manuel, 23, Italian (but spending more than half of the year in London).
To be honest, i come here since during this hot italian summer i felt so kinda alone digging my shiet : ) Until last night a good friend of mine sent me here and i felt this community was absolutely great. So here i am!
I also saw some interviews made by you guys on youtube, 1:20 hr of discussion with this german artist, simply awesome. Sounds like a serious creative social network!
I started studing Sculpture in Milan, then the past year I came to London to Middlesex University, Illustration. That was fun, until i ran out of money (9000£ fees per year), so i said myself "you can stay but let's gotta go".
I'm working for myself now, trying to build an interesting portfolio to submit when i go back to London in Sept/October. I wanna be paid.
Talking strictly about me, i'm a drummer, i love videogames, i feel very social and try my best to be open minded, even in the weirdiest situations. I desire so much to find people who love doing what they do (painting, living and stuff) and create a game or something pragmatic to work with.
I'm into history of art and Tutorials a LOT and my fav artist right now is Vincent Desiderio and a student of him Donato Giancola (magic the gathering painter).
Also Sergey Kolesov is one of the best of the best for me.
Hope you didn't get bored, time to sneak into every exiting thread. Cheers guys!
Hello you guys my name is Newtn (real name: Matthew) and I'm an amateur concept designer and illustrator :) This is such a great forum here. So I am happy to be here , have a nice day.
My name is Robert Buber. I am a young artist entering my junior year at the lovely College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Outside of college, I do all my work in isolation since that network is gone over the summer. I've been wanting to join an online creative community such as Crimson Daggers for a while, but my procrastination and Facebook make doing new things so hard. So now I've done it and I'm here. Hopefully, I can stay focused enough to show what I'm working on and see what you guys are up to. Fun times ahead in brand new lands!
I've always loved art, but didnt start seriously until a month ago. Since then I've adopted an intense schedule to make up for time lost. Ive been a follower for 2 weeks I quess.
Recently (2 days ago) I bought a tablet and went digital. Been loving every moment since then.
Ive added some recent images ive done as attachments. All of them are studies from a reference. First is made with pencil and paper. The other 2 are fresh digitals. The 2nd image is NOT a guy holding his dick, its a rope, but I kinda screwed up.
My name is Patrick, some call me Pat or if you want you can call me Beardley. Im 17 and I've been arting for about a year and a half now. I'm starting my second year in fine arts here in montreal, though my dream is to become a concept artist someday. I've been teaching myself about illustration and concept art for a few months, mostly through wonderful people who share their techniques online like Dave Rapoza, Feng zhu and more, but also through books.
I've been a big fan of the study mentality that this community lives on for a real long time now, and since I've adopted a more regular pattern of study in march or so I've seen improvement in leaps and bounds compared to previously. Here's my DA, where you can see what I'm talking about. I started doing the study->apply study method after the birthday hippo. I've still got lots to improve on but I feel like I'm improving steadily
This is my first post here although I've been following Daves and Dans streams and their stuff for a while now. I don't get many opportunities to get feedback from illustrators so I figured it would be time to get in touch with some :D.
I look forward to posting future works and seeing you guys's stuff!
Hello guys, my name is Walter Licinio and I really wanna improve as an artist. Just found this forum while reading this article "Don't Go to Art School" by Noah Bradley. I'm trying to follow each step of the 10k list, and I can't believe I never registered here before.
Here is some of my recent work from the past months, and I know I really have a ton of things to improve. More of it can be found at my tumblr
I'm a beginner artist who loves crit! I will be posting stuff for you guys to check out, any form of feedback is welcomed. I'm going to post some stuff to kick this off :)
I'm here to first and foremost interrupt the hello titling of all introductions, which i will hopefully not mess up because this is my first time being on any kind of forum ever.
Now with that out of the way, I will admit to actually being here to improve my art too(what an unexpected turn!), because some persons on the internet mentioned it's a good place to do that. No, you can't ask me who they were because i forgot :c
I live in hungary(so if i murder the spelling on some words, i will shamelessly use that as an excuse), but plan to move in to my boyfriend in colorado, but that doesn't really matter here actually :D I went to art and animation school for a year but quit because we quite honestly were just spending 12 hours a day staring at eachother and doing nothing in particular. So i've been alone with my art (hopefully only) up until now. I'll just go link my tumblr http://velannal.tumblr.com/ , some of the finished pieces have the link to my deviantart too on them so i think that's it for the art links.
I hope you people will be friendly and not chase me away with pitchforks and daggers :D
I'm going to go make a top secret base in the sketchbook part just in case.
