Hey, I'm Nate. I've been following Crimson Daggers for a long time, I've watched many livestreams, but never went and made a forum account. I was on ConceptArt.org since 2007, but with the recent events, I'm not going there anymore.
Quick info about myself: I'm going to AAU right now focusing on Illustration. Before I went to TAD for 2 and a half years, I eventually had to quit due to not having enough time to get work done because of a full time job I had while attending full time. I'm hoping with the information I get from school and from CD, I can get some freelance work or get picked up by an entertainment company before I need to graduate.
I can't wait to get started on my sketchbook and actually be part of this community.

So... I left art school two years ago. I couldn't finish... and I've kind of, not done much since.
I don't really have the space to break out paints where I live so I've been doing some digital painting, except I suck at it. Like, a lot. I've noticed that I've actually been slipping and my stuff from the past few weeks is worse than stuff from months ago. That's just... wrong.
My real interest is sculpting tho. I want to be a better 2D artist and I'll never stop drawing, but I want to make a living as a sculptor. Somehow. Is it ok if I post my sculptures?
I'm pretty much only active on furry sites and I'm really only interested in drawing and sculpting furries and animals. So yeah, I'll probably be posting a lot of animal studies. I hope that's ok?
I used to be on CA off and on, but I never really stuck with it. I need some kind of motivated, critique positive site to be on tho. The thing about furries is they're not really great at the whole critique thing.
Also... I was wondering what the rules are on posting adult art here. I get a lot of my nude references from porn sites since there's really not a lot of good traditional ref material out there :/
Thanks.

Hello all,
I'm Giorgio, aka Erebus on the web (it's my nickname from the ages of the Commodore64, BBS and smarthmodems, and has becomed my signature and the name of my little design and illustration company :) ).
I'm from Italy, born in Torino, living in Firenze (Florence) area, in the middle of nowhere, with my wife and our 4 cats (+4 kittens now, wich will go to new houses the next week, sob, if you like cats you can see them on my wife website, it's in italian but a lot of photos there: www.cuccioligatto.it).
Here goes my (long) story. If you have time and want, read it...
I worked and still work as my main business as a graphic/advertising designer and web designer, I've been Art Director for an advertising/communication company for some years, then I decided to go freelance. It has been an hard work, but satisfying at times.
Then, with time, I started to get less and less work for printed graphics, and more for web... in the end I got tired of php, javascript and server headaches, and decided that, if I wanted to still work on graphics, I could have tried to revamp my old passion for painting, and so I started to self-learn drawing and digital painting again.
Again I say, because I used to draw and paint until I was 14, then my parents forced me to abandon art (I still remember my father saying: "what you want to do with art? To live under a bridge and paint portraits for fairs? If you want to do art, then come to clean and paint houses walls") and to pursue a "serious job", so I took a diploma for building houses (geometra) and studied several years as an architect, because it was my closest excuse of a "serious job" to do some drawing, while working in my father business (building houses, you guess :P).
In the end, I got to do the job I wanted to do, or at least something similar in the advertising company, and renounced all the benefits of working in my father business for going finally my way. Maybe for a non-italian it can be hard to understand, but in Italy when I was 14 you could not choose what to do of your life if your parents wanted differently... probably is for that reason that we are full of doctors, lawyers, and lack technicians...
Anyway, I restarted painting, with the digital medium that was already very familiar to me. I worked in 3D, 2D, anything I could try and learn. I like to learn new things every day.
Lately, some years ago, when my illustration skills becomed decent, I united my passion for games and boardgames to my work, and I started working for italian boardgame publishers.
So here I am now, illustrating boardgames for italian, american and chinese companies, not much bucks to earn, but much satisfation when a client recognizes your work makes him sell more games at fairs :D
I do the whole package when needed (riles, packaging, cards, layouts, illustrations, etc), since I'm also a graphic designer, and so my boardgames usually have a coherent image (I'm a brand identity designer also, after all :P).
I'm also a boardgame and rpg designer, and I like to create narrative worlds.
I've created a lot, and if I can I will try to take them to live/publish them sooner or later.
But the story it's already too long, I hope I don't have bored you too much ^_^
So, to close my presentation, I had no time to learn the "fondamentals" of art with time. I have no "free time" actually, I work almost 12 hours/day to earn enough to mantain my family (My wife had got no earnings for almost 1 year now), so I have to learn what I can while doing works, bending my mind as much as I can to understand what the client wants, and making it real as best as I can.
I learn, I get better every year that passes, but I had to get things done even without proper preparation.
So I'm here now, willing to learn what I miss, to get better at figure anatomy, at composition, and creating interesting images, while doing professional work in the meantime: "THINGS NEED TO GET DONE!" is my motto :D
Giorgio aka Erebus
P.s.: I'm posting my sketchbook too, so you can see my evolution, and my professional and less professional work ^_^

What's up everyone. My name is Bill Harkins and I'm a 26 year old artist from Pennsylvania, USA. You know how the story goes, drawing since I was 4, always playing video games and love film/entertainment stuff. I think heading into college I had a very short-sighted view that I needed to go to school for jobs in my area. I went into graphic design and advertising, and while I actually enjoyed the field, I knew I'll never be satisfied until I do what I really, really want to do - entertainment design/concept art.
So fast forward into my first graphic design job. Paid well, health insurance, very comfy work atmosphere. Only a crazy moron would quit that job. Me. At some point I decided I was going to save up a lot of money and give my dream of being a concept artist a shot. I think the exact moment was when I saw the work Kekai Kotaki was doing for GW2. Eventually, I got myself a bank roll and in March of 2012, I jumped off the proverbial cliff and quit my cushy job.
It has been tough, but I know that being a part of these types of communities helps. I have done a few small time game concept pieces as well as illustrations for books and CD albums, etc. Whatever I can do to keep afloat financially during the journey. Also looking forward to my first 'real-life' art community thing I'll be going to which is Illuxcon 6 this year in September.
Here's my portfolio: http://harkinsart.com. Feel free to play my flash game, but unfortunately I built it in CS2 and when I upgraded to CS6 it broke my Time and Score counters. I'll fix it eventually but for now, think of it like hardcore mode.
Going to Florida this week to take a break from the cold, I'll put together a Sketchbook thread when I get back.
Bill

Hi!
My name is Marc Simonetti, and I'm a freelancing 2D craftsman for something like 10 years now.
I'm French, which is the main reason my sentences may be weird, in the best cases.
Anyway, I'm always trying to put my bag on a friendly forum to take some time to talk about art and about what's all around.
I've done some cool commissions, working on some great books (for the cover arts), on some quite good video games ( doing some concept arts), and I've done also some tv ad, RPG, and some feature films related works.
Along the years I've polluted the web with quite some online unfinished portfolios, but you can see some of my works there:
https://www.facebook.com/artSimonetti
http://marcsimonetti.tumblr.com/
www.marcsimonetti.com
And I've recently started working on commission "live" on livestream too...(trying the two livestream versions, still don't know which one I'm gonna use)
http://www.livestream.com/marcsimonetti
https://new.livestream.com/accounts/1630681
Well I think that's quite all.

Hello everyone. I'm another casualty of the CA clusterfuck (hmmm, I haven't seen anything in the rules regarding profanity so I'll leave this here as an experiment.)
I'm a video game production/concept artist. I'm currently in between jobs so I'm toying with different stuff (storyboarding/painting/writing.)
I'm looking forward to contributing to the forums here.
