Sup, I'm Sam S from Virginia. I'm currently 18 and working on my last semester in high school. I want to go into animation and I'm teaching myself illustration so that when I get good enough I can freelance for some money and learn how to compose scenes. I applied to Calarts' Character Animation program a month ago and I'll find out if I was accepted in March. I really want to go to art school, but I'm starting to think it might not be the best option. I've wanted to be a professional artist for around 4 years, but I didn't really practice the right way for a long time and now I feel like I'm not as skilled as I should be. I started watching Dan's stream a few weeks ago, and I'm really excited to be a part of this awesome community!

Hello daggers!
First of all, i want to express how great it is to be with the 2 masters, Dave and Dan, to be in a forum. Giving the time helping us to improve our artworks is such an awesome idea and to think that they are also busy with their own fields. Salute!
I've started digital art last 2008 but i stopped 'coz of school and work stuffs. I started watching live streams last year and I can say that it really gave me a big improvement in a short span of time. Thanks Crimson Daggers!
And to all daggers, let's practice, learn and have fun together!

Hey everyone, I'm Nick. Currently in the Boston area working as a Flame artist (i.e. video compositor) for Film and TVC. Before that I was a working comics artist for a year or so. After many years away from the drafting board I'm trying to get into to digital painting for concept and character design. I'm still trying to find my way, art is NOT like riding a bike and I have alot of ground to make up for.
Crimson Daggers is the artist community I've been missing since I left art school! Most of us live pretty secluded art lives apart from everyone else who does this kind of thing and it's been hard to find like minded art freaks like myself.
Anyways, I've been working on personal projects since the Bloodsports challenges started but hopefully that wraps up soon so I can jump into the game. Everyone has been doing great work and I hope to join the ranks!

My name's Dave and im from Derbyshire in England. I'm 35, married and have a step son. I have spent a number of years away from art because when I studied on my degrees (Fine Art and Animation) I thought the skill and talent would automatically come to me so I never pushed to work hard each day. I was basically completely lazy and always thought id be able to do it 'tomorrow'. Im finally at a point in my life where i have run out of excuses and tomorrow has finally arrived so all I have left is getting on with it and working hard. Im not sure where I want to be in the industry at the moment, my first goal is to paint, study, learn, paint, study, learn and repeat and hopefully as my skills and portfolio improve then the direction I want to take will become more apparent.
I am currently working on a long term project with 2 other friends which has a working title of 'Wastelands'. It's currently going to be a compliation of Post Apocalyptic themed imagery that we are compiling together with the idea of fleshing out the world and its stories/histories etc.
So I just want to say a big hello to all of you Daggers out there, it's really good to be on board with so many like minded people.
Lets work hard everyone!

I'm Israel, 26 years old from Spain.
In my childhood I used to draw everyday and I wanted to be a comics artist, but I gave up at 18. There weren't (and even now aren't) many opportunities here and I was weak so I studied at University my second interest by that time: computer engineering.
After 3 years drawing absolutely nothing I started making 2D video games (eventually because we both were busy with work and study) with a friend I met in the japanese school where I was learning the language and working. Then I worked in an office and knew that was not what I wanted to do in my life.
Graduation done, I dedicated all my time to make graphics for all video games developed by Tanoku, but 3 years later (2011) we gave up for some reasons. To me it was a great opportunity. I learnt a lot in those 3 years, it was great and Tanoku gave me a lot, but I couldn't improve my drawing/painting skills a lot in the way I wanted.
So now, I spend all my time for digital painting, drawing, design, concept art, illustration and all that stuff I really love.
Last year I went to the WorkshopSF and there I could meet to Dave, Dan and many other great artists. It was inspiring and now I know what I want, no matter how hard it can be.
SORRY for the LONG introduction, but hope it helps if there is any artist who's doubting about continue doing what he/she loves or giving up because it's hard. DON'T give up, because you can maybe find easier ways to live, but you won't be as happy as doing what you really like :)
Thank you DAGGERS!!!

Hey Daggers!
My names Dave and I live up in Norway, just down the street from Santa! m an old man of 34 and have been working as a designer/ illustrator (a dirty slashie) in the online games and suchlike for 8 years.
I started following the Dave and Dan show in order to better my skills at rendering the figure, as most of my carrier has been flat vector based illustration for flash animation. I won't be entering many of the challenges as alongside the freelance illustration thing I have also got a young son who hogs most of my spare time, but I will make time for studies and dish out some comments for the Daggers.
This forum is great but also I am thinking it would be a good idea to form some sort of Daggers Voltronesque team over on Deviant Art to boost our profiles in a wider community, and spread the dagger gospel over there. Should we form a DA group or just watch eachother? Whos keen?
