Hi, I'm Sean. i've been drawing for 2 (going on 3) years now and am trying to start taking it a bit more seriously. I'm an aspiring concept artist, would like to be a character designer for games. I'm going to start a sketchbook here to post my progress, and maybe participate in other things going on :) I look forward to chatting with you guys!
What's happening good people?
I just heard about this site and that it's a good environment for artists really trying to take their skills to a professional level and beyond. Who doesn't want to be god-like with their art skills?
I just turned 26 and I have never considered myself an artist, but recently I've been having these incredibly vivid dreams that I think would make for great stories. Writing books would be cool, but I really want to accompany the story with visuals of places and beings that kind of spawn in my mind's eye.
I cannot draw at all. But I really wanna commit the time and do what it takes to develop a graphic series and work with and learn from other artists as well. I plan on using Photoshop as my main medium.
I'm nowhere near good enough to land a job where I can draw for a living yet, so that's the first goal I've set for myself. Once I'm there, I should start improving faster, all the while working on my own stuff which like for most of us I think is the ultimate goal!
I have longed to go freelance and become a digital artist as my career but I've held myself back following other career opportunities. I've done quite well on my CV but I feel I've lost a lot of time focusing on getting projects out the door instead of getting better at drawing and painting as I should have been.
So brief history: After working in film for a bit and animation/arch viz, I worked in games as an environment artist at Frontier for 3.5 years becoming a senior there. Then I went off to Crytek in Frankfurt and worked on Ryse (big xbox one launch title) where I was made Lead Artist and did some Art Direction. Since then I moved to Sony London studio where I currently work now as Environment Art Lead (with some Art Direction duties again).
Most of my work in recent years (especially at Sony) has been leading and directing so I feel I'm losing a lot of skills.. Anyway long story short. I'm here to learn how to paint digitally so I can open up opportunities at work as well as options to work free lancing on different projects and become a better artist. Who knows eventually I might work form home!
If anyone knows where to start I'd love some advice. I have some drawing skills but I'm not a professional level yet by any means. I'd love to join a class or some people who can help me to keep motivated and perhaps I can share some industry knowledge for anyone looking into getting into environment art in the games industry.
I don't really know which area of concept art/illustration I'd like to specialise in, right now I just want to start creating art again and see what happens.
I was referenced this website by an article from Noah Bradley. This website looks very profound and I wanted to be apart of a social network consisted of aspiring artist.
I knew I wanted to pursue in art ever since I was in my mothers womb! Well, not literally (that would be gross). I group up watching excessive amounts of cartoons from Cartoon Network to Nickelodeon. Shows like "The Justice League" or "Ed, Edd, n Eddy" put a huge impact on my creative interest. Later down the line I started to get mature and watched more detailed animated shows like the majority of anime and comic books. I kept evolving all throughout my adolescent years and remain so today. Hopefully someday, a great producer pick up my ideas to make it on their channel (or I can just fund my own projects, bump them ;-J)
So far, the main equipment that I use is my Monoprice Tablet and the programs that I own is Adobe Illustrator CS4, PhotoShop CS4, and Flash CS4. I've done two animations which were finished in flash, so you can see my talent so far. It's on YouTube and Newgrounds, I'll give you the link bellow. I'm pretty good with these programs and wouldn't mind helping anyone else on any projects.
HOODY HOO, Crimson Daggers! Been lurking here a solid year or more, time to start posting. I found this place through ConceptArt Forums. I had a sketchbook there, which I kept up on very infrequently.
I intend to be more diligent this time around. I may repost some stuff from that SB, as I never got much critique on it to begin with. WHO KNOWS!? Anyway, see y'all around the forums.

Hey Peeps,
I'm new to crimsondaggers and also very excited to join a community of artists such as myself. Although i'm still learning the fundamentals of drawing, my goal is to one day become a concept artist who specializes in creature design. Looking for like minded people to study/improve with.
I recently stumbled upon this website when I was searching for "Character Generators" on Google. I came across http://crimsondaggers.com/forum/thread-1063.html and was really impressed by the character generator that Dennis Kutsenko made. I wish I knew how to make one like that myself.
So once I found that thread I was curious about a forums named "Crimson Daggers", thinking it was a sort of gaming or RP forums. Then to my pleasant surprise I saw that it was a community for artists. Unfortunately I couldn't find a description or introduction for the site itself, so I'm still a bit clueless to what it really is and it's background, etc. Even with that thought it tempted me enough to want to join it.
I'm an aspiring artist, and even though I'm probably a bit older than some of the people here (28 years old) I'd still like to become a professional artist someday and have a career in art. I still have a long ways to go and really need to work on improving my skill, but I'm not going to give up on that goal.
I'd love to be a character concept artist, illustrator, children's booth author/illustrator, and... a few other things that interest me, but not sure when any of that is going to happen. For now I'm mostly doing art commissions online and have some of my artwork up at a few local art galleries.
For the past few months I've had a pretty bad art/creative block. So I'm hoping by joining the Crimson Blades forums I'll be inspired and motivated to improve and make new artwork. It'd be also great to meet other artists and potentially make some online pals.
I have a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet and use Photoshop CC. I'd eventually like to get a Cintiq but those are super expensive, so... >.> We'll see about that.
I've only been doing digital art for the past 3 to 4 years or so, which is when I decided I wanted to pursue art as a career.
I look forward to getting involved with this community and would be more than happy to talk and discuss art and art related subjects with anyone interested! Also, if there's anything I should know about this community, the forums, what's to be expected of me, etc, please let me know! I'd really appreciate it.
Have you heard about the gnomon school? Did you know you can attend it in real life and not only as online workshops? Curious what it is like to be a gnomon student?
Well i am writing a Blog about my experiences at gnomon! I am starting the 3-year-program in a couple of days and have already some Posts to feed you with! http://gnomon-experience.blogspot.co.at
I started this Blog to inform people who are interested in the facility and maybe even want to apply as well. I was in the situation where i tried to get as much Info about the school as possible before i was ready to apply, now I'd like to give back. It's written from my point of view as an international student. School starts next week!
If you have any questions about the school or living in LA, ask me - preferrably on my blog!
Hi I would want to join an art group and level up so that I can be a professional artist. If you are interested in having an art partner, feel free to PM me!
