You're my new substitute to video games
Posted by: Zelzaan - 11-06-2015, 11:20 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (2)

Hello Folks,

my name is Josip and I have a proven track record of successfully wasting time playing video games, staring at the TV, watching Po... eh Polo games and so on..

You are my new substitute for all of that. I'll do some of your amazing classes, look at your beautiful works and steal your precious art-secrets!

I work as a graphic designer and have been drawing on and off for a lot of years now, but hardly ever consistent.
I have no ambition in becoming a Pro Illustrator (gonna get rich by winning the lottery.. fingers crossed).. but if that Pro-thingy actually happens.. Yeah, why not.

At the end of the day I'd just rather have the feeling of having been productive instead of achieving a higher rank in Counter-Strike.

Hello my name is Troy, and I have been digitally painting for a little over a year now, on and off admittedly. But, I have decided to practice more consistently, and have come here to help others, and to hopefully be critiqued harshly on the pieces that I put in to my sketchbook lol. Anyway, I am 19 years old, and from New York; I have many things I like to do like reading, watching anime, reading manga, and other mundane activities such as writing stories, and playing chess. I am open to pretty much anything, excluding activities like murdering people, and kicking cats. But I cant say I wouldn't be friends with someone who did do that. I enjoy the company of others, because I find everyone interesting. Oh, and I also like typing unorganized introductions whenever I get the chance to. Thanks for having me. In love

My Name is Michi,

I got to know this site through an levelup interview with Dave Rapoza.

My goal is to become a professional 2d artist, to improve my creative skillset, to create some cool artpieces and have fun along the way :)

I started drawing digitally About 3 years ago. Eversince I have journeyed from traditional oilpainting on to learning digital painting to 3d modelling and sculpting and only very recently back to painting 2d.

At the moment I´m working on my portfolio and this made me realize, that constructive critic and inspiration from likeminded folks is very important to tackle the little problems, that happen in the paintingprocess, especially when it comes to rendering for hours. Sometimes a set of fresh eyes makes all the difference.

I ´m super excited to have found this artcommunity and hope to learn, be inspired by you guys and create cool artwork.

Cheers

So I heard this is like Tinder but for artists~
Posted by: Fern Cano - 10-28-2015, 06:08 PM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (3)

Hey, guys!

Name's Fern, I'm an illustrator from Monterrey, Mexico. I just joined this place looking to meet some new fellow artists of all kinds to make my life richer and nicer and with whom to share advice and all sorts of mundane shit :). Bonus points if you like tabletop games!

If you're curious about my work, I've been a free-lance artist for around 5 years illustrating graphic novels and children's book with Capstone Publishing. I also worked two years as a colorist and occassional penciler for some comic book firms like IDW, Marvel and even some DC stuff sprinkled in there. A little while after that I joined a video game art outsourcing studio in which I started off as concept artist and later became mentor and art director for one of the concept art teams.

Here's a portfolio website, in case you're interested: https://ferncano.carbonmade.com/
And my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/artofferncano/?ref=hl

So! I hope to make some friends here!

Oh by the way, I know this isn't like Tinder for artists :'D

Hi, I'm Sean. i've been drawing for 2 (going on 3) years now and am trying to start taking it a bit more seriously. I'm an aspiring concept artist, would like to be a character designer for games. I'm going to start a sketchbook here to post my progress, and maybe participate in other things going on :) I look forward to chatting with you guys!

What's happening good people?
I just heard about this site and that it's a good environment for artists really trying to take their skills to a professional level and beyond. Who doesn't want to be god-like with their art skills?

I just turned 26 and I have never considered myself an artist, but recently I've been having these incredibly vivid dreams that I think would make for great stories. Writing books would be cool, but I really want to accompany the story with visuals of places and beings that kind of spawn in my mind's eye.

I cannot draw at all. But I really wanna commit the time and do what it takes to develop a graphic series and work with and learn from other artists as well. I plan on using Photoshop as my main medium.

I'm nowhere near good enough to land a job where I can draw for a living yet, so that's the first goal I've set for myself.  Once I'm there, I should start improving faster, all the while working on my own stuff which like for most of us I think is the ultimate goal!

I look forward to learning with you guys.

Hello Crimson Daggers,

I have longed to go freelance and become a digital artist as my career but I've held myself back following other career opportunities. I've done quite well on my CV but I feel I've lost a lot of time focusing on getting projects out the door instead of getting better at drawing and painting as I should have been.

So brief history: After working in film for a bit and animation/arch viz, I worked in games as an environment artist at Frontier for 3.5 years becoming a senior there. Then I went off to Crytek in Frankfurt and worked on Ryse (big xbox one launch title) where I was made Lead Artist and did some Art Direction. Since then I moved to Sony London studio where I currently work now as Environment Art Lead (with some Art Direction duties again).

Most of my work in recent years (especially at Sony) has been leading and directing so I feel I'm losing a lot of skills.. Anyway long story short. I'm here to learn how to paint digitally so I can open up opportunities at work as well as options to work free lancing on different projects and become a better artist. Who knows eventually I might work form home!

If anyone knows where to start I'd love some advice. I have some drawing skills but I'm not a professional level yet by any means. I'd love to join a class or some people who can help me to keep motivated and perhaps I can share some industry knowledge for anyone looking into getting into environment art in the games industry.

I don't really know which area of concept art/illustration I'd like to specialise in, right now I just want to start creating art again and see what happens.

I look forward to meeting you all,

Jason.
