  Concept dreams
Posted by: JO! - 04-03-2014, 05:58 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (1)

Hi people ! Insane, ecstatic

after years of endless trouble, now i'm finally ready to focus on my greatest goals. When i was young i loved to play with monsters, drawing monsters and reading comics all the time. I did it for fun, but already there, i realized that i wanted more than to copy images and do some doodles.
So, i continued to study art, graduating as master in anatomic drawing…
Concept art was the key helping me to merge all my enthusiasm for costume, anatomy, creature design, robot design and lately environment design. It was like returning to my roots - continuing where i stopped to dream as a kid.
For 2014 i've set several important goals to unify my knowledge and to improve the overall technical aspects of my paintings.

I hope we met us here around, and in any case, be welcome on "my" website on Deviantart. The Link is:

Hey, all. I haven't really lurked or done much aside from interact with a few CD users in the past, and so my knowledge of what really goes on here is limited to "community of artists looking to help each other improve." That said, I'm looking forward to hopefully integrating and engaging in the community as we move through spring and into summer.

As for who I am, you can see my dA profile here to see my art. My Fall/Winter job is as a high school debate coach, which leaves my spring/summer mostly free to work on my art.

What I hope to get out of this community is a push towards achieving greater plateaus of skill, the expectancy that I will work day in and day out to improve. To this end, I want to start a personal design project to hopefully engage you all, and in doing so be pushed to my limits to reach the beginning of my professional career in industry art. Every push in the right direction I can get from anyone here with more experience and skill is something I would be deeply grateful for, and I'm looking forward to whatever my work with this community cultivates.

Hello!

I'm Jake, and I'm madly in love with drawing at the moment. I really wish to be a comic artist some day... Storytelling is everything to me. <3

The basis for my style is in the Legend of Korra, the best looking animation ever. Other main influences lie in anime and realism, and the rest is probably from looking at different kinds of art few hours a day. I love dynamic poses, foreshortening, weird angles and lens effects.

For the CD community, I wish to provide you guys with feedback, provide you with improving art and probably a few goofy comments here and there!

As for the misc info, im 24 years old and I currently reside in Finland :)

Hi everyone! My name’s Jonny, I’m 33 and I’m from England. I’ve always wanted to draw but didn’t draw when I was a teenager so figured it was too late to start (I think I got this idea from watching Bruce Lee movies, thinking I’d never be as good as him since I didn’t start when I was 3!). That’s a silly way to look at things, it’s never too late to start something new – besides, it’s more important to have passion and to enjoy what you do (and create some value for yourself and others) than to be the best of the best.

Bruce Lee says ‘…be like water…you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; you put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; you put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.’

In my life I've been a school drop out, a uni student, a junkie, a criminal and a professional (amongst other things). Right now I’m an ESOL teacher, husband, Buddhist and father to a beautiful little girl (for nearly 2 years)...

...And of course, an artist! I’ve been drawing for nearly a year now.

I am really happy to have found this forum, everyone is so encouraging with others and willing to help newbies and pros alike! I look forward to becoming involved here!

I will undertake this pilgrimage and rise from Novice to Master!

Thanks for reading Insane, ecstatic

Jonny

Hello everyone, I am an aspiring artist and while studying the name of this forum kept popping up, so I decided to use it to help me study even more. I'm 16 and mostly work traditional, but I bought a cheap pen pad and decided to try digital out.

Hello,

I'm a first-year PhD student from/living in Bristol. I'm 23 and I recently (~6 months ago) started drawing again. I got started because I'm currently teaching kids to program games (once a week) and I needed to make art content for the practice game I was making, but I got hooked pretty quickly and I've been taking art classes and drawing pretty much every day since.

Although I'm not expecting to have a career in art, I'm serious about improving and I'd like to get to know others who feel the same (about the improving). At the moment, I have a tumblr (which I'm a bit embarrassed to post given all the incredible artists that hang out here!), but I find that tumblr is really useless for talking to people, so I've been looking for a good forum for a while. Hopefully, this is it!

In a couple of weeks, I'll be starting 2 sets of life drawing classes (~5 hours) a week, which should give me plenty of stuff to post and ask for crit on :).

So I guess that's me! Hopefully, I'll get to know some of you, and see you around the forum.

Hello everybody and nice to meet you. This is my first day here.
I hope it will be a productive and qualitative experience, and definitively i need some directions in this direction.

This is what i worked until now in a [still life] + [anatomy] Challenge with the people from conceptart website(but i will give you the link from deviantart because is more clearer and ordered). >> http://q12a.deviantart.com/gallery/ <<

I heard and pointed to your website by some very awesome people from CA, like snatey(render),brent(monsters),nim(atmospheric),Long(concept),Mike(american) and much more... :)
I speak with them in G+ hangouts almost everyday. That why the involvement.

I am here to grow as an artist, to know other artists, to debate on art and methods, techniques, and tips. I heard only good things about you and I really hope i can be a part of this group.
To the future!!! (and beyond)...

Hi guys, how are you doing? My name's Alexander, I'm new here and I'm from a backwater country in the middle of two oceans, Indonesia, so bear with my poor writing and slow internet connection Smirk

Anyway, I've just started career as digital artist in this 6 months and I feel like I need an active community or better yet, a tutor or mentor to help me improve my skill. There are tons of great artists out there, and one of the best in my eyes is Brad Rigney. I really like his drawings a lot. So, hopefully I find the right place here and I welcome anyone that want to share wisdom, artworks, or simple talk between artist. Wink

So yeah, I won't talk at great length here, hopefully there's someone in this forum who wants to guide me in digital art. Thank you for your time and nice to meet you folks Happy

What up everyone, I am excited to be here!

Hello everybody!

My name is David, I am 25 years old and writing to you from Danmark. I finished my bachelor degree in biology in January and have decided to take a break from school. During this break which will be around 1 year (maybe more, you never know) I would like to get in touch with my creative side again, which has been neglected for far to long.

Drawing has always been a big part of my life, but the last couple of years I really have not been able to practise it that much. This has mainly been because of school, and also because of the fact that I have surrounded myself with friends who just are not interrested in drawing and such (they have some other great qualities instead). So my favorite past time practise has been put on a shelf collecting dust.., collecting dust until now that is :)

I have started drawing again. Mainly pencil, but I also got my hands on a wacom intuos5 drawing tablet, so I am also trying to get the handle on photoshop. What I have been looking at so far, has been quick gestures, so I can get a handle on the anatomy of the body and its motion. My drawing skills at this moment are pretty rusty so it will take me a while to get back to where I finished last time. The level I was on last time, was in my oppinion "slightly" above amateurish.. I had some understanding of anatomy, lighting and color.

What I would like for my future is an even better ability to draw, so it will be possible to leave the rank of an amature, maybe even becoming so good that I can make a little money with my drawing skills. In that sense I am thinking of charater and enviroment design. Being able to draw the things I fantasize about is really a dream, something I never have been able to, probably because of the lack in skill.
I hope the crimsondaggers forum can help me with this, the drawing skills many of you have are incredible and very inspiring, but very overwhelming as well, because where do I start so I can get better?
The first thing I would like to do is to join a study group, so I can get some help and be helpfull. A study group would also be able to give me some structure on my practise which maybe at one point can help structure an every day drawing routine.

This is my introduction people, hopefully not a too boring one :)

-David-

PS: I am not very familiar with forums and have never ever been active in one before, so bear with me. I generally ask a lot of questions ;) I will upload a sketchbook as soon as possible!
