So uh..thought I'd say hi, so hi.

Been surfing around and this place caught my interest from referrals. I'm just looking to really start growing, if possible from complete scratch and use all kinds of resources and opportunities possible here. Spent a few years floating, like some kind of modern nomad trying to figure out what I really wanted to do. So I'm a blank sheet essentially.

Came to realize that I always pore over graphic novels and character designs, and I'd like to follow in the footsteps of artists like Yoji Shinkawa, or Kinu Nishimura to list a few. Their linework is sublime. I pretty much have them under a notepad titled "I must strive to exceed."

So here I am, on the diving board so to speak. Somewhat nervous to dive. Wouldn't know where to start exactly to be honest. I'm going for the self-taught routine until I save up for classes. I've essentially set up general and realistic goals, got myself a nice small workspace recently as an affirmation to commit to the path I'm now about to step towards. Not looking for any handouts, but maybe uh..some direction to point me towards so I don't feel like I'm completely in the dark? It would be greatly appreciated! (Do I start with faces, anatomy or what? etc)

Also, I look forward to hopefully be part of a solid community.

Hello, Everyone! I am a 2 yrs professional software engineer (mainly for games) that aspires to be extremely well at both programming and art. I've known about this site for a while but just haven't gotten around to it. I hope I'll be able to improve a lot with critiques from you all!

I've already started by posting a sketchbook on here and would highly appreciate it if you all could come visit and give some critiques or even just at least some support. :) I appreciate every bit and am going to try hard to be the best I can be.

Just found time now to register. I'm a freelance illlustrator with a degree in architecture and industrial design aiming to work in game and book illustrations. I've been drawing/painting most of my life but only took it seriously 3 years ago (I'm already in my early 30's) after going to a design school in Singapore. Hope to share and learn a lot from the folks here.

I'm Mozaki, an aspiring artist, currently studying with the art department, and also with studio technique.

I guess you could say i'm trying to draw, paint, and animate, as three of the main directions.

As for goals, it's three fold. I'm practicing mainly for Dip Pens, trying to become as good as Katsuhiro Ootomo (creator of Akira). Also, I aim to paint as well as James Gurney, and animate well enough to work for someplace like Disney. One of my side goals is to create a graphic novel as awesome as Blacksad. That's pretty much my plan for the next 5-10 years. Not too ambitious I hope.

There's not much of my stuff online, except on DA, which has all my pony related art (frankly my best compositions, but they're all more of a hobby to practice composition and storytelling), so I decided to come here on a friends recommendation to basically join in, share thoughts, and hopefully...have fun.

'Having fun' is in all seriousness the most important agenda on my list, but what I find fun is sharing, learning, and creating...

Hopefully you lot would be a friendly bunch of daggers, if, sharp pointy knives could be considered friendly at all... crimson knives that is...*gulp*
