Fedodika the Koala
So! had to go to a surprise party today, didn't get much done...

Gonna be starting a looong Bouguereau study, focusing on the drawing part for as long as i can. I notice the more i draw the more goodies are awaiting in these master studies, annnd a crappy commission i did, but don't worry the client loved it lol

aight did 200 basic shapes today and spent a few hours on the boug, not sure if i will finish it... I feel like i learn more doing these shape exercises than literally anything, it's weird.

Kinda reminds me when i was learning drums, like the more i thought about things analytically and practiced just hand motions without the whole kit, i learned faster and better. Or guitar, when i just learned tablature and practiced without the amp or pedal board, the large body of my technique improved as opposed to fucking around with effect pedals and trying to sound like Eddie Van Halen or worrying too much about tone or whatever. probably not a 100% valid comparison, but that's how it feels.

alright so the first one is a failed first attempt. It was entirely from imagination and i was gettin real frustrated so i went on a walk. I said, fuck it I'm gonna use ref, so i did and the result is 1000X better lol. Lotsa shapes to refine tomorrow, and yes that's a B.C. rich warlock, probably not spot on proportions, but you know tangents r a real bitch.

The second one definitely looks better, but I still think that a little bit of gestureto the figure would benefit. Like, on your Bouguereau study the head and shoulders tilt make it more alife .

doesn't get any cooler than lightning bolt guitars right? Tomorrow, we'll play find the artifact, oh yea and watch Highlander if you haven't. If you have, watch it again, that's a command from koala base.

That painting looks great, i especially love the hand resting on her thigh o:

I know exactly how you feel about stomachs, all kinds of confusing LOL

Do you have a specific focal point in mind with the painting? maybe pushing the details in an area might help? (totes not sure, take this with a grain of salt LOL just trying to be a bit more involved in the community :x )

If i had to advise my younger self I'd say

1. Draw from your imagination everyday and cross reference if you get stuck
2. draw more than you paint. a 75/25 ratio, even 100/0 if you really wanna go there.
3. pay attention when you draw, just moving your hand doesn't make you any better
4. draw tons of cubes and boxes.
5. Draw WHATEVER you want from your mind.
6. People who want to hire you don't care if you fit a mold, they just want art that inspires them.
7. Stop being a loser.
8. If you have a headache or feel like you're worthless after drawing, it means you will grow very soon.
9. nerve flossing is a good way to help back pain look it up on YT. If your arm hurts, take 10 mins off and massage it.
10. Hummus is really good on bagels. No seriously. and peanuts and dried cranberries are delicious together.

I'll try to write ten more tomorrow lol that was fun

I really like the last tree painting. The choice of pastel colors is very harmonious!
I'ts great to see the anatomy studies. Maybe you can supplement it with some life drawing, and poses where you really try to push for the likeness

Nice renderings going on, that chick's left (her left) armpit is really disfigured, mostly because of the weird way you have the clavicle joining up with the shoulder, and the connection points of the pectorals seem way too high
