Jamesxwu Thanks! Lately I've been doing most of these studies from memory right after finishing them unless I have a piece to apply it to.

Oh man, seen your blog before and little bits but never checked the sketchbook. You're killing it man. Like 6 months, and your stuff is so much better. Love it.
The guy running with the gun, and the rhianna study, so good. Keep it up man, definitely gonna be checking back ;)

My CHOW stuff from this week - my first contest entry on CA. And a sketch for fun - practicing drawing from imagination without photo reference Sort of a photo study of Kemp Remillard from the photo shown during his Crimson Conversation:

And here's how the CHOW came out... I wish I could've put a little more time into it.

Hey there Pierce, manly work as ever! Love how the Venom study turned out. The last piece is pretty cool too, just maybe a few more hours into it might make it even better. Wish some of the line work/deisgn elements were kept in the final; kind of vanished due to the very dark values with the dark bg.

Ursula Dorada Thanks!
Dennis Thanks for the thoughtful comments! You definitely hit the nail on the head about that last CHOW. It's just way too dark. I wold have been better off with using the gray scale version for the CHOW deadline. I lost the weapon almost completely. When I looked at it on my Fujitsu tablet, I realized how ridiculously dark it was. I will definitely refinish that one as soon as I get a chance. Told myself I wasn't going to post WIPs as often (or at all), but I already uploaded this so here she is:

Oh wow. Love your studies. However you personal stuff has abit to deep darks. That makes them look artificial. Try lighten your values here and there and it should help. Keep pushing it. I'll be watchin' ya!

ramalooke Hey thanks! I agree! I feel like my tendency is to work in far too high contrast
and since in the back of my head I'm telling myself that I have way too much white, so I reduce that but never really get to where I need to be with the middle values. Sketch from the daily sketch group on CA - topic: giant brute struggles to fight a small, fast imp. Soo..

Quick sketch and anatomy study stuff.
