I am James Mabe from North Carolina, USA.

I am actually surprised it took me so long to join here considering I've known and watched the livestreams for quite a while or rather more specifically I watched a lot of Dave's livestreams when he was more active with them. I just joined and wanted to post my intro however at this time I am a little bit in a downer mood and thought about writing some most likely depressing stuff here. However ultimately that solves nothing and doesn't do anyone else any good and I am sure I will be in a better mood another time I visit and will feel much differently. That aside I will try to post my most recent work in progress soon, I posted it over at cgsociety and got some feedback but I feel like doing so here may prove to be more beneficial, the environment feels different here and possibly more productive in the end.

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site, I go by the the online alias Nereza or Nez and I'm a leaning artist aiming to improve and grow as a artist. I been drawing since I could hold a pencil and despite my skill level, I'm extremely passionate about what I do and art in general, I'm always trying leaning as much as I can and I hope to learn and grow on my stay here.

I dont update as often as I should but you can see some of my work on my DA here http://nereza-darkblood.deviantart.com/

Hello everyone! My name is Matthew Lapierre. I'm an amateur artist hoping to better my skills and hopefully achieve a career in the digital art/illustration field. I joined here on the recommendation of a friend of mine who said that you all might be helpful in critiquing my work and recommended starting a sketchbook thread to keep myself working on a daily basis.

I've only started digital painting in the last three months, but I think I have made a fair bit of progress.

Would you guys recommend I start my own sketchbook thread right away?

Hello everyone!

Name's Lauren, usually go go by Fyre on the interworlds. Been doing art off and on for years, but only really took it seriously a few years ago. My main interests is in concept art/creature design. I consider my art good, but I could definitely get a lot better.

Anyways, I'm bad at intros, so I hope that's good enough. Can't wait to check out the site some more ^^

  How do from the UK...
Posted by: dirksteele - 07-19-2013, 01:44 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (2)

Hi all,

My name's Dan and I'm a 32 year old graphic designer from the sunny UK. Hope everyone is good. I'll try and keep it brief!

As far as my art story goes, I always drew ever since I can remember and got pretty good at it when I was young. I was always 'the guy who draws', which I guess I got from my Dad who is an architect and painter. I went to art college and got my degree in Graphic Design with animation, but then I entered the real world and literally stopped drawing for over ten years whilst I worked and fell into music, relationships and being in bands. You know how it goes.

One day I was browsing the net at work, bored as usual, when I came across conceptart.com and by extension the work of a certain Mr. Djurdjevic, which totally blew me away. So I started getting into the whole CA community, art blogs, CGHub etc., discovered a whole world of inspiration and killer artists who inspired me to pick up my pencils again. Only one problem - I realised that I kind of sucked at the fundamentals, and drawing cartoons of Garfield had only gotten me so far when I was a kid. So my journey began (again).

I know it sounds stupid, but up until recently I felt that 32 was 'too late' to start learning the fundamentals for a whole new career in art. I guess it's daunting when you see so many incredible artists out there who are barely into their twenties. Then I realised that I was being stupid, and I just want to make art because I love it and I want to get better at it. The career is the goal, but the whole 'getting better' thing is what I'm most excited by. I try every day to not compare myself to others and just worry about my own progress. Hopefully some people here will know what I'm talking about.

Thanks for reading, I'm off to make my sketchbook on here. And cheers to Dave and Dan for creating such an awesome community \m/

Hey my name is Henrik and i'm a 25 years old gamedesign and graphics student from sweden. Been drawing most part of my life but i've been ignorant, not learning the fundamentals of drawing properly. Something i sorely regrett now, i've always lacked patience = moving forward to quickly in my work. How ever i've decided to get back to he basics and learn anatomy, perspective, color, light etc properly. To keep me motivated i wanted a place where i could discuss, give and get feedback from fellow artists. A friend told me to get started here so here i am. Looking forward to it, not sure yet how the forum works but i'll get to it.

Take care folks / Henrikr

Hey everyone! :)
I've been painting and drawing traditionally (mostly drawing) for a few years now but you know.. Long slacking breaks and no motivation have blocked my journey. But now it's time to stop being a loser and reach my dreams. I'm totally unfamiliar with this forum (have read about it over at CA tho..) but this feels like the right place.

Oh .. and my name is Patrick, age 24, living in Sweden.

Time to paint!
Cheers! :D

Hi! I'm not really good with introductions but I'll try my best.

I'm Hauteclaire. I've been drawing for two years (Really bad non-serious cartoony stuff) but got serious about it at the start of this one. So far my skills aren't that good, but I'm focusing and practicing as hard as I can to better myself and be able to call my work "art" someday. You will see that most of my work is grayscale because as this is my first year studying art, I wanna focus and learn and master how light works as much as I can before continuing into color (Sometimes I wonder if this is the right choise, but seems to be working so far).

I hope to learn a lot and meet some comrades here!
