Hello!

I'm here to first and foremost interrupt the hello titling of all introductions, which i will hopefully not mess up because this is my first time being on any kind of forum ever.

Now with that out of the way, I will admit to actually being here to improve my art too(what an unexpected turn!), because some persons on the internet mentioned it's a good place to do that. No, you can't ask me who they were because i forgot :c

I live in hungary(so if i murder the spelling on some words, i will shamelessly use that as an excuse), but plan to move in to my boyfriend in colorado, but that doesn't really matter here actually :D I went to art and animation school for a year but quit because we quite honestly were just spending 12 hours a day staring at eachother and doing nothing in particular. So i've been alone with my art (hopefully only) up until now. I'll just go link my tumblr http://velannal.tumblr.com/ , some of the finished pieces have the link to my deviantart too on them so i think that's it for the art links.

I hope you people will be friendly and not chase me away with pitchforks and daggers :D
I'm going to go make a top secret base in the sketchbook part just in case.

Hey, I'm an illustrator originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia and currently residing in Toronto.

Found this place on Reddit /illustration, and I love the self-improvement community vibe going on. Seems like a great mix of skill here, and just seems like a real positive environment. Also: it feels nice to visit a message board again and break out of the social media trap for a bit.

You can check out my stuff at http://lazerhorse.com, or better yet on my tumblr (which is updated more frequently) http://lazerhorse.tumblr.com. I do a lot of 80s comic/cult film themed work. Its a bit niche but I love it.

I came here because I want to work on the fundamentals. I love all of the assignments that people have on here, and look forward to participating in them.

But I also came here because on Reddit there was some word of general industry knowledge being shared. Illustration is a difficult field to work in, and any bit of advice from anyone making a living off it is super helpful.

Anyhow, bottom line is: You all seem cool, lets be friends!

Afternoon all :] I'm new here, though I signed up months ago(?), this is the first time I have actually posted. I was suggested here by a friend, because I have been trying to better myself as an artist but I just wasn't making as much progress as I would like as I wasn't getting any of the crit and feedback that I desperately need.

Soooo.... here I am, I'm sure he will approve of me getting off my lazy arse and finally posting. I have a blog which I try and keep updated whenever I have new art I'm happy to share. I look forward to getting to know you guys <3

Hello everyone!

In an effort to expand my very limited working knowledge of the artistic process I have decided to sign up here to become BETARRR @ teh ArtZ! But only time and effort will reveal such things to me. And also in doing so I hope that I can contribute back to the forum in thanks for the future help received:)

If you have time to check out my website please feel free to do so :)

And also here is a little snippet of one of the projects I am currently working on for Noah Bradley's art camp (A master study of Monet).

My Name is Javier. I joined this forum because I liked the atmosphere of diligent hard work and a desire to improve. I was active on another forum, but its personality had changed from what I had remembered, so I left. I hope to spend my time here improving my skills and sharing what knowledge I have with others. I have spent most of my life working traditionally and have recently started working digitally. I hope to improve my ability to handle the digital medium here. I've included some of my digital experiments so far. See you around.

Some light intro to programming humor.Party

Anyway, I'm AyaneMatrix and I am switching from a lurker to more of member of this site. I was also recommended to visit here by one of my classmates, but it really took me forever to do so.Rolling eyes, funny thought

As such, I do have some training in the arts, but I believe much of my current problem is not having confidence in my work. It's an awkward thing to say when you're in art school and have about a year left to go, but my confidence level dropped considerably over the last few months and it has noticeably affected my artwork. So, I've been bouncing around trying to get my mojo back, so to speak.

Places that I frequently post my artwork/sketches to are as follows:
DeviantArt
AniPan
Tumblr Digital Sketchbook Almost daily here.
Anatomy Studies A lot of cross posts from above.

I think that's pretty much it. I'm still feeling new here, not to mention lost.Meh That'll obviously pass as I use the site more.

End;

So I decided to join this forum after hearing so much positive feedback about it! I'm hoping I will be able to improve with by joining.
I have been drawing for most of my life, but I have never really bothered to take it seriously. I want to work on my realism, and many other things, considering I want to go into an art related career. I'm still pretty young, so I have yet to decide what I want to do. I also feel like I want to re-learn how to see things. I have learned so much over the years, but I've always had problems applying them.
Also, I guess I should say that I have been greatly influenced by anime. However, I really want to work on my realism! I also want to learn more about design because I will most likely get into a design related career. I hope to learn a lot through this forum!

Here are some things I want to improve with (that I can think of at the moment):

  • color theory
  • foreshortening
  • backgrounds
  • anatomy
  • proportions
  • composition
  • computer softwares
