I'm glad I could find another art forum similar, you guys all seem really cool. It's a shame that instagram is taking up most of the art traffic from forums like these. I'm happy to have joined, I've always liked art communities like these, now I just need to find some COW challenges.

  Finally saying Hi
Posted by: Dannood - 02-18-2020, 05:55 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (1)

I only recently heard about this forum after desperately trying to find a beginner friendly Art Forum out there. Not gonna lie, it was kind of intimidating since the people seem to be incredibly talented but I also really want to give it a shot and really really want to learn all I can.

I’m a super novice, and have only really learned gotten a somewhat stable grasp of anatomy and the basics of perspective. Despite that I astronomically want to be a professional artist in the industry. Working the cool jobs and so on and such. I could go on, but it’s crazy and I know it’s stupidly hard. I’m happy to be here though. So hi

First I would like to apologise for my wrong grammar because english is not my first language. I'm new here to this site and I'm a late bloomer artist which means I shift career and I choose this path to become artist. I was working in hospitality industry and at the same time I'm also was a full time musician for about almost 5 years but due to having a anxiety disorder and other health issues I have nothing left to offer for my family to help them that's why I become an artist not just because I have no choice the reason is I realized this is what i want to do in my whole life. I've been drawing since at the age of 5 but I didn't take it serious in highschool because I'm just considering it as a hobby but now I'm 30 years old now grinding to improve everything from fundamentals to finish illustrations that i want to make. I'm a huge fan of the artist like frank frazetta, jeff jones, boris vallejo, cynthia sheppard, brad rigney, kekkai kotaki and many other artist to mention. I'm looking forward to hangout with you guys in the future even though i'm trying to stay away in social media to focus more in improving my craft

Star My Introduction!
Posted by: HorseSaysQuack - 01-27-2020, 02:34 PM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (2)

Hi there, my name is Lukas.

I'm presently 17 years old and have come here from a 2-year-old Bobby Chiu live stream where Dave Rapoza was the featured guest. I'm really eager to achieve my art goals but I often fall into the trappings of good ol' fashioned laziness and excuses. I'm here to finally hold myself accountable, break the cycle and work hard.

As of the moment my goal, like with a lot of people, is to get into the games industry as an Illustrator. I have less trouble rendering and than drawing, and perspective has proven to be a bit of a bitch to learn. My anatomy is still kind of janky and all over the place and my poses and proportions are super stiff.

One by one, drawing by drawing, painting by painting, I will get rid of as many of these flaws as I can and I hope you can all support me in my doing so.

Much love from Canada and tootles for now!

Hi there,

Art newbie here. I found these forums after hearing about them on Dave Rapoza/Dan Warrens's twitch stream. I've been drawing and digital painting as a hobby for about 4 years now and I'm try seriously to get better now. Hopefully to get good enough to get into the illustration or concept art industry at some point (that's still quite far away right now).

Up to now my experience has mostly been with figure drawing and some perspective, mostly with traditional media. Recently though I'm trying to learn digital painting and realistic lighting and rendering with schoolism and gnomon videos. My major weakness is that I spend a lot of time studying but rarely apply the studies to create finished pieces because they look so bad that I quickly get discouraged and think I need to "get better" before I can start creating stuff. I'm hoping that joining these forums will motivate me to push past the failures and finish more pieces.

I don't really have a online presence at this point (hoping to change that soon) so I'll just post a lighting study I'm working on at the moment (the bounce lights and secondary lights might be a bit over done..).

I'll try and start a sketchbook thread and post a few more stuff in the near future.

Thanks for reading =).

Traditional painter , cartoonist, illustrator. Back in 2007 I illustrated a series of irish tales translated to Portuguese to Luci Collin, and did several expositions of the artwork. Recently, together with a production team (2), we won a local recognized award: the 7th. Festcine Pinhais for best-animated film. And in 2019 I exhibited among other artists at The Framer's Gallery in London

Cheers!

Hey everyone!

I'm Sammy and I'm not too far away from hitting the 21st year I'm on this planet.
I've been "activly" drawing for about 3 1/2 years now and slowly starting to do some drawings I sort of like.
I have a really big problem with pushing myself to finish stuff and learn things outside my comfort zone properly, so I'm just slowly, but somewhat happily, chipping away at it to get better. I'm hoping to get the much needed mental push on here to get myself to do that a bit better. hehe

The overall goal I have with art isn't 100% clear yet. I originally got into it to become a 2d animator, but have since gotten really into concepting and recently storyboarding. Before I started drawing I wrote a whole lot, so I generally like to tell stories. My real love in media is film, so eventhough I love manga/comics, concept art and all that I'm really just someone trying to direct his own cinematic projects in his bedroom.

I've really been in a rut the last few months which I'm just starting to come out of, so let's see how long it takes till the next one!

Hi.
My name's Harijan D.
I'm an artist from Brazil, living in Rio de Janeiro since kid.
My passions are 80's culture, fantasy, comics, games, movies and literature.

ATM my current main work is about doing 2D art for game assets in a local indie studio called Overlord Game Studios.

I didn't took any classes for english, pardon me for my lack of literacy.

The two personal projects I'm working on are called Sword and Dear Orc. An webcomic and a 2D platform game.

Hey there!

I'm SaltySpook it's a pleasure to meet you all.

Hopefully this works? I was trying to make a sketchbook thread but it kept on saying I had 600,000 characters in my post when it was far smaller than that/
