Fedodika the Koala
more iterative stuff! ARM HURTZ

i noticed i draw the jaw of the skull, like the gap too long, and when i draw breasticles i draw them too high up on the chest and need to leave room for pecs. Also really love those thigh gaps, as well as drinking cheap lambrusco wine in the Gianicolos hills in Rome at sunset... Love that memory

Patrick: Hey thanks for swingin by man! Means a lot!

mmm oatmeal haha

okay, so this is a potrait for my best buddies birthday; it has its issues but after redoing it 3 times i finally didnt feel the proportions were skewed or droopy. Doing those 3/4 skulls helped me a lot with that, but i also need to attatch necks to some basic head shapes to get comfortable with that. Yea i think the neck is wrong, but every line i try to put down to fix it either makes it look too thick or if i dial it back looks too thin so (shruggies)

Also tried some spine things today and boy i need to get hampton out and slow down with it cuz i really wasnt diggin the tubes i was drawing haha.

LETS GO FOR 100 PAGE SKETCHBOOK 2018!!

yum yum i wanna sip of that dedication juice

I've been gone for 3 weeks seconds and you are over here killin it. Good for you bro! Your figures have gotten more gestural nowadays which is a nice departure from the primarily blocky and structural figures that you were doing. And the Iterative process seems to be doing wonders for you right now so nice job!

Welp, just wanted to check in with the one and only koala. Hope you get better!

Voodoo: HAHAHA Love yoU!!! I'll dedicate this next post to yo style!

Didnt post yesterday cuz sick, but IM OVER IT!

So for fun im entering the Artstation "Beneath the Waves" competition where you design 10 characters for an underwater realm. 5 have to be humanoid and 5 creatures.

I have this idea for a heavy metal underwater world. The title itself reminded me of a Strapping Young Lad song called "beneath the waves" So i was thinking of making Devin Townsend an undead pirate dude lol maybe with a boat ore as a guitar with one string on it haha

Also and this is corny, but when i was in high school i really fucking loved the album "Midian" by Cradle of Filth. I dont so much love it anymore and i can only vaguely like the nostalgia of it, but the lyrics are fucking gold. ANYWAYS so, there was a song called "death magick for adepts" and it had a poem at the end read by a kind of old school horror movie narrator voice:

"We've woven hearts a thorn arbour

Left tear streaked reason upon the shore
And bereft of compass, star or more
Set out for this World's end
Few at the prow, most slave below
Painting coal a perfect gold
But for all it's worth, the engines slow
Dead in the brine again
Come cabin fever, sodomy on the bounty
Prey to phallus seas
That hiss and foam to douse disease
A storm roars on the way
Blacker than the Ace of Rapes
Dealt out by Death in darkwood glades
Our Ship of Fools, all boards handmade
Sinks, dashed by seismic waves..."

And that always gave me some cool visuals for like a pirate scene, seeing the very cringey corny band out on the ocean taking themselves way too seriously. DO NOT bother listening to them ALL of their music is absolute garbage in my mighty indisputable opinion. Over the years I've discovered there's a metal song about pretty much anything, and hell there is so much I have to draw inspiration from in that...

Also this crab is gonna have a kinda silly face based on this image i found on google of a real crab, wished i had drawn it out lol. His claw is gonna kinda resemble a metal \m/ but very subtley. This world will be kind of goofy and dark, but in a tasteful and cynical way. Clocks ticking!

Also dropped 70$ on Proko's figure drawing fundamentals course. Had no idea it was 15 hrs of content hehe;  This bean exercise is killing me, way more intricate than i had imagined. But then again that's my experience with pretty much all the fundamentals is me underestimating every single one of them!

*reaction Gif

LAST THING: This is a piece I'm working on for a private client, there's plenty of stuff wrong with it in the perspective, but i liked how the composition turned out haha and it was a challenging subject matter for sure lol

Shhiiiittt I almost thought I wrote that whole post. But I noticed the actually good art and a lack of a Youtube video of a random song at the beginning of the post. I then realized it was your black magic at work. But... Despite those discrepancies, you are quite the stunt double, very impressive.

*reaction gif, yeah it's like midnight and i don't feel like finding a gif right now*

Hi Fedo. I think that we often give people same advice which we consciously or not would give ourselves. And I think you're having problems with faces attractiveness as well. Not really sure how to fix it, but you recommended me practicing to draw sexy eyes.
I just got an idea. You've been focusing on creating attractive faces mostly within those years, am I right? The ones that you personally like? Have you tried doing faces which aren't by any means ugly but which you don't quite like, first with refs? And then try faces that you like again, with fresh view. Too many people get caught in drawing same type of faces, sometimes for years, and it’s not always turns appealing for viewers. It's probably what I'm going to do myself along with what you recommended :)

Voodoo: XX <3

Neo: That's a great point! You know i think i should maybe draw some ladies i wouldnt normally go for, like playboy bunny bleach blonde types, black women, and asian women. thanks for pointin that out should actually be fun!

MMMMM caricatures in town is always fun but draining. Can't do fundies when i get home im just so wound up. EXCUSES!

This is the lineup for the characters im gonna make for the arstation thing

1. An overly masculine black metal dude with some gills in his head and chest
2. A corsetted goth dame in a flustered pose with a flooded glass bubble on her head
3: Devin Townsend Pirate undead overlord BENEATH THE WAVES!!!
4. A gilled homeless looking peasant who is painting some coal a perfect gold
5. Some sort of slave trader undead fish gil pirate metal lord (could change)
6. the devil horn giving crab with goofy look
7. A merman with a goats head/shag and his trident is shaped like a BC rich guitar
8. A pentagram shaped sea rock/starfish? with an eyeball in the middle
9. Some kind of heavy metal fish (could change)
10. an abyssal butterfly of the trenches with a beaming eerie light as its eye with dark body

Need to get to work!!!

"like playboy bunny bleach blonde types, black women, and asian women." MORE ASIAN WOMEN!...because uhhh it'd be good practice, yes..practice.
That heavy metal ocean kingdom sounds brutal dude I dig it.

AK: Yesh i'm hyper aware theres some perspective problems! I did a normal perspective initially but i had changed and stylized it in that Alice in Wonderland idea with the swirling floors and stuff; something I'm gonna look into more in the future actually...

Triggered: I DREW SOME Asian Ladies! Actually had a funny story as to why i'm not so attracted to them. Earlier this year i went to Las Vegas and went with my cousin to a strip club for our last night out. I had never been to one and was taken by this chinese woman, who I didn't find very charming, more annoying. I didn't have the guts to tell her i wasnt interested and she ended up taking a lot of money from me for a pretty lousy experience (and she reaaallly smelled bad!.) So i have this dumb recollection to when i see asian women who kind of resemble her i get the creeps, but this session of drawing tonight was nice and meditative and i think i can get over it if i just draw some more asian ladies.

Soooo got the crab done, was shocked how well it kinda put itself together. bought prokos portrait series and gonna watch and really slow down and hone in on his thing on the nose since i cant seem to get the structure right occasionally. Next will be a merman goat thing, which hopefully will be of the same quality at least as the crab; I really like the picture and the concept and i hope I will a week from now as well!
