With my sillyness left behind in the subject ill commence introducing!
like now...
My name is Bjørn Erik Aunan and I am a 84' model from Norway.
I started doing 3d modeling about 3 years ago and was hooked into arts at that point.
Roughly half a year later I got myself a cheap trust tablet for texturing work,
it would not take long after that until I started drawing with it instead of doing textures.
I had not drawn since I was in kindergarten, but found myself strangely attracted to doing so.
I have not drawn near as much as I wish I have and this summer with tax returns I got myself a cintiq 24hd, sadly haven't had much time to use it this summer but have picked up the pen again now.
I found Alejandro Mirabal's stream by accident this morning and here I am, intrigued by a community of art which I've never had before.
Hey there, Crimson Daggers! I've been lurking on this forum for the past week or two, to be honest... But I think I might as well create an actual thread to introduce myself properly, huh?
The name is Chantal, but you guys can call me Cal. I'm eighteen, Dutch and for the past six years I've been doodling crap all over my notebooks (and still do :D). I'd never properly learned how to hold a pencil, let alone tried to improve my skill... Last month though I discovered Daniel Lieske's latest graphic novel and while I was reading that, I think something just clicked inside my head? I want to be an artist, too! :D
I hope you guys have room for at least one more Newbie Artist; Skillset: N/A, lol. I will surely be posting in the sketchbook section soon. Over time it'd be great to get to know you guys ^^

A few days ago i discovered the world of digital art, through a friend of mine who stumbled upon a video of a guy named Sinix on YT.
Haven´t touched a pen in years, but been vandalizing the concretes and public transportation methods of Germany for almost 10 years. That beeing said i have no educational background, nor do i have the money/qualification to enter a college.
But i got 2 working hands, a quick mind and through the compassion of a friend that want´s me off his couch i now own a bamboo graphic tablet, yay!
Anyways my reason to please you with my presence here, is first of all the mindblowing stuff, the owners of this site create and second : the inability, of actually critiquing stuff, of the peeps over at CA.org.
I'm new here, but I've always been one to fondle in the art community and other creative people, Art has been my passion since childhood, and I've been doing art ever since, I know with each piece I do I get better, and I love to mentor those around me as much as possible and sometimes even learn from them, I've been doing freelancing professionally for the past couple of years, and opened up my own studio in 08, I hope to get to know alot of you as the time goes by, buddy of mine brent told me bout this so I'm here :) Below I got an example of a piece of my art, I mostly do creatures and some landscape stuff, or w/e comes to my mind that day, I do a painting everyday, I have a very busy life though, working 3 jobs and college, but I hope to get the most out of this, and even help out when I can :) http://fav.me/d5hq157
Holas everyone! good to be here ^_^
I'm Mel. My partner Tom and I sat across from Dan and Dave at last year's NYCC. That was pretty much the first time I saw Dave's work and well, I was totally blown away. I had to cross the street and purchase a lovely print of Leo. Since then I've followed these guys and have learned a lot from them. Lots of love for Crimson Daggers!
My partner and I are Tommel Design (tommeldesign.com). We both do Graphic Design and Illustration by day (day jobs) and run Tommel Design til the wee hours. Would love to solely work as a concept artist for film someday. That would be a dream come true.
My name is Victor Maury. I'm currently a student studying illustration/animation and trying to build up a professional skillset and portfolio. Some of my goals include illustrating card art for Magic: the Gathering, working on a Cartoon Network cartoon, and ultimately being able to live from my drawings. I joined Crimson Daggers after being referred here by Brent Hollowell, who I have been following for a while and was literally about to message about which online communities to join in order to stay motivated and meet like-minded people. If you're reading this Brent, cheers.
Alright guys, I hope to stay active and participate in the design challenges, learn from yall, and maybe even teach you a thing or two.
Hello there!
I heard this is a good forum to register on if you want to get into digital art and so I thought why not and registered just now.
My name is Daniel and I'm 18. I've been using Photoshop for about 4 years I guess? Maybe add or take a few. I am from Germany and so far I have kind of focused on web design. However, I always wanted to draw my own stuff and since my girlfriend gave me her drawing tablet a week ago I thought why not and am trying to start out and get into digital drawing since 2 days. I admit its a very new experience trying to draw with a tablet. I mostly spent those two days getting accustomed to it.
I guess first you sketch where you want what to be.. but I dont quite get how you make things look so sharp and stuff.
Oh well I'm seriously a bloody newbie. I just started using my tablet :P
I'd be very glad if I could get some help and support here because right now I feel kind of very clueless :-/
Just finished some major projects and done exhibiting at NYCC. Dan n Dave came by us in artist alley table V11 and showed my partner Mel and I some serious love. Now that the show is over and deadlines are easing up I hope to really participate on here and other challenges to have some fun.
My partner and I are TOMMEL design and you can check out some of out work at http://www.tommeldesign.com or Facebook.com/tommeldesign
Let me know whatcha think! I'll be lurking and posting more soon!
Whoops i already started posting but didn't introduce myself properly:
My name's Nick Chrissis, i'm 34 years old and from the Netherlands.
Besides my "day-job" wich luckily gives me oodles of free time i'm chasing a lifelong dream to make my own animations and draw my own comics. I've been plugging away at the animation side for a while now but i decided it's time to get serious about my drawing as well!
A couple of weeks ago one of my favourite artists Roger Dean came to my town to give a talk and he talked a lot about his creative process.
One thing that really struck me was when he said that drawing/painting should become as automatic as driving a car, only then can you truly let the inspiration an "visions" flow onto the page. And that to get to that point you need a looot of practice becuase frankly drawing and painting requires a lot more fine motor skills and spacial perception etc. than driving a car!
So after that i decided to treat drawing like working out: try do it every day even when i don't really feel like it. And just like working out once you get going you usually start to enjoy yourslef ;)
I found this forum via facebook and i really like the vibe! Also i hope i can get some honest critisism about the stuff i'm doing wrong.
I'm currently also in a weekly life drawing class - i take one every year - and it really struck me last time that the instructor can walk by and notice big flaws like a nose out of place that somehow you just don't seem to see when you're working on it.
Ok enough of me blithering on, let's go arting about! ;)
