I've been putting off properly studying for a long time, I've been watching the videos and streams of all the usual peoples. And instead of watching I feel it's time to just dive right in and get to studying.
Watching and listening to Dave and Dan had been an amazing inspiration to start getting serious about something that i really love and enjoy!
I really just want to get better at drawing and painting in the computer, that's my ultimate goal, I've got loads of ideas, but just can't explore them fully, i'm hoping over the next two years i'll be closer to achieving my ideas fully.
So the plan!
Currently my plan is a study a week on the computer, I currently have quite a busy schedule in the day so my streaming times will usually be around 9pm to 1pm Eastern European Time Zone.
It also might not be everyday just down to the randomness of my other jobs and commitments.
I usually get the weekends too but i'll post up when i will be going onto to stream on my Twitter account! (Link Below)
Hi There im a wanna be artist and my name is josh from the philippines and im 18 i just dropped out collage to focus on my dream job and that is to become an freelance illustrator so... yeah
I hope to get to know other members here and make freinds so PM me for anything or if you'd like to chat.
some artist I take inspiration from are Agostino Arrivebene, Wayne barlowe, Beksinski, and many others. I love artwork that shows the imagination and unique perception of the painter.
anyways here are some of my sketches
ill be making a sketchbook thread if you are interested in seeing more as that seems to be a more appropriate place to post drawings.
I study creative writing in university with an interest towards working within the graphic novel format.
I find it particularly interesting what can be done with the tandem of image and text, rather than one or the other. So my second major went to animation, since my university has no illustration this will have to do.
Then I realized I'm absolutely terrible at art.
So I've been working as best as my fragmented butt can to get the fundamentals down on illustration, and I've been improving.
My circle of critique is quite small, I'm hoping a community geared towards focused improvement will help me keep in gear.
I'll be around, maybe drop what little I know where I can. I have studied as a fitness trainer, so my knowledge of anatomy isn't too bad, but everything else I'm probably not in any place to speak up just yet.
Sup guys. I found Dan and Dave's talks on youtube and thought they were hilarious, but also insightful. Couldn't be happier to have found crimson daggers.
I've been learning watercolor painting in college for about a year now and been getting pretty bored with it, too much reliance on photo reference. I decided a few months ago that this concept art and illustration stuff looks pretty cool so I'm going to learn everything on my own instead.
I'm here to do what I like which is making art. I wish to talk to the community here and find inspiration for a personal project that I'm trying to work on. Some of my favourite artists are Tetsuya Nomura, Marc Brunet, Saskia Gutenkunst, JDarnell, among others. I first saw Dave Rapoza's starveil stuff which I felt was pretty cool Anyways, I just started a thread in Summer Pitch (Dunno if it's the right place ) that I hope to turn into my base of operations on CD:
am a 27 years old architect ( i know... am old stop laughing T_T )
i went into architecture in pursiute of creativity and design and it was fun early on but soon the reality of the market came down and i saw that you are creative two weeks a year and the rest of the year you are stuck either drawing details and drafting, or on site sweating and dealing with the guy who didnt see the electrical pole and hit it with a truck or didnt see the airforce cable and cut it with a saw oO.
during that time i was learning 3D softwares that related to architecture in a way.
i stumbled on to scottrobertson youtube channle and i felt a click in my brain !
then it hit me .... i liked THAT more than architecture !
and when that hell did i stop sketching ?!
i went in there cause i was drawing stuff ! and now its been 7 years since i even tried to draw !
i thought 3 month ago that i ll do anything to get back into design and creativity and since then i v been dedicated to catch up and start over.
then i got to sycra channle and started listening to his interviews at work ( since we are not allowed to watch stuff there ) and i go back home and watch videos and sketch ( am COVERED with rust and my hand squeeeks when i am drawing anything and i feel like a 5 years old )
am targeting the gaming industry and am gonna hit it !!
i dont care how i do it , i will , i ll ram my car into it so hard ill fly off the seat into the designers seat !!!!!
i am hoping you guys help me push the right buttons or at least sit with me in the car and enjoy the ride with me with a popcorn in your hand while i ram my self into my target :D
Just a newcomer. Hopefully I'll get along with everyone else.
I hope to be as hardcore as the awesome artists here and I am prepared to saw my ass off and draw it, if it what it takes to be a sick artist.
I'm a fellow San Franciscan who moved from the islands of Hawaii looking for a job as a cook. Worked as cook. Hated to work as a cook. Now I'm doing something which I feel is full filling. Still learning and growing. Looking for a drawing partner or art group along the lines of concept art. Give me a buzz. Here's something I'm working on now.
