Completely newbie here (I never frequented the forum neither the website)... I came here with a desire to communicate with other artists, this year was a big deal for me, I finally decided that this is the path I'm taking in my life. And I'm fully committed to it. But sometimes it feels quite lonely and discouraging, I felt that joining this forum would be nice to get inspired by others and receive critiques/learn together and etc. I am studying graphic design in university, but there's not much depth into the illustration field, so I'm "self-teaching" myself through internet/tutorials and practice. I'm in love with animation and concept art, my real goal would be to get in any of those fields, but really, anything related to art/design amazes me.
Well, I'm up for talking with anyone in any skill level, I mean, I'd love to be a part of a study group or having study buddies
.... Well, weirdly enough the avatar I did resemble a bit the design of this website, it was a coincidence though lol

Hey everyone, my name is Shen Jia.
First time I posted on any type of forum, so I have no idea how anything works...(┬_┬)
Tomorrow, I will start my first day in college, so I guess I will try to post my progress here.
Cheers everyone, and best of luck to all that are going back to school (even though the guy that got me here said that luck is not important) !

Hey everyone,
I used to draw and chat while watching the Crimson Daggers streams as often as I could way back when. Eventually I decided to unplug from the internet art communities for a time and lost touch, but now I'm back and ready to get drawing and painting again.
Drawing comes to me naturally, but I'm no Michelangelo. My skills are rusty and I aim to fix that. I'm mostly gonna push myself to work in traditional mediums, but for online uploads I may upload digital works more than anything just because my scanner is a pain to use.
I'll try to contribute and help in anyway that I can. If anyone ever wants a fresh pair of eyes to look at their work pm me and I'll do my best to help.
Anyway, see you 'round.

Hey ! I'm new to this forum , heard about it several times and thought I should give it a try. I'm not much of a forum guy but I hope to get used to it. My biggest problem is to keep myself motivated .... sometimes I have bursts of "driving" (very anime alike) and I do something like 1000 gesture drawings in 4 days but most of the times I'm really "dry".
I hope joining this forum will help me towards that. And ... I think one of the things that would help me the most is having a mentor.
If ya guys could direct me a bit towards that (I get a bit lost in all the threads) or even have other suggestions as well that could help me in any way possible ... please do tell !
I've been drawing for about half a year and this is what I can do at the moment: http://crimsondaggers.com/forum/thread-5332.html

Hello! Time for introductions after spending a bit of time lurking 'round these parts. My name is Beola, but you can call me Be, or Busy B., oooor...by my name! I've just turned 21 a few weeks ago. Not as exciting as I'd hoped for, but hey whatevs. The key to happy living is to lower one's expectations, keep disappointment to a minimum, amirite?
Anywho, moving on! I've tried this before (the whole art forum community thing), and I'd definitely be one of the first to advocate for communal learning and support. I'm just terribly uncomfortable with non-face-to-face communication, because body language is essential in understanding others. However! If I were to wait until I'm ready to jump into the fray, then I'd never be ready and I'd probably never do it.
I'm done waiting. MY BODY...isn't ready, but I'll manage. We'll manage. I hope to meld with all of you lovely people in a sea of golden goop. C:

Hello and thank you,
My name is Mikhail Holland and I've been drawing my whole life dreaming about becoming a concept artist / fantasy illustrator. Of course it took me 26 years to get myself truly focused and get down to actually making my dream into a reality. Through a couple connections and words of advice I was told posting myself here was a great place to start.
I'm looking for any more advice or connections to help broaden my web. I'm a very imaginative person and have always been a quick learn. So far I'm only working with pencil/ink/2D, just recently having picked up Photoshop CS6. I'll be getting a digital tablet (huion 610) in hopefully a week but that's not in cement quite yet.
Once again, thanks for the gander and I look forward to anything anyone has to say.

Hi everybody! I'm a 24 year old English teacher who lives in Madrid, Spain. I'm originally from California. I went to UCLA and graduated with a degree in science.
After years of promising I would change careers to art for video games, I am finally trying to do it. Currently I am enjoying being in Spain, and I was thinking hard about leaving my teaching job here and going back to Los Angeles to study at the Concept Design Academy starting October 1st.
However, the idea of leaving was tearing me apart. The expat lifestyle here can be lonely (really, really lonely sometimes....), and I am poor, but being so close to all these different places to travel to as well as seeing more of Spain is intoxicating to me. Flights are ridiculously cheap. I just don't want to go home quite yet.
So, I am going to see how far I can get with tutorials online and maybe pay for some classes through the various CG Master-type websites, because cost of living here in Spain is a lot less. I can pay for my living expenses with my 16-hr week job.
So, let's see how far I can get with these tutorials. My goal is to evaluate how I'm doing by December. If I haven't made sufficient progress, I will move back to Los Angeles and try to get a part-time job SAT tutoring (which pays very well per hour, so I could theoretically pay all my living expenses with 10-12 hours of that), and then the rest of the time taking classes at CDA in February. My parents have offered to help me out with the cost of that, plus loans.
It's a scary idea for me (who doesn't fear failure?) but today I just started with my first free online tutorials from Ctrl+paint. For me the biggest stumbling block is overthinking and not starting. Once I get going I can get on a roll, but starting is a hurdle.
Anyway, hola a todos! También hablo español, si quieres. :-)
Looking forward to interacting with everyone here. I feel really isolated in what I'm trying to do, so I'm thankful that fourms like this exist.

Hello, community of Crimson Daggers. My name is Pookaball (not really) and I try to be an artist, but I can't achieve anything in art. I "specify" in digital art with a stylus on my IPad and Pixel art (Which I believe is frowned upon at this website) on PC. I also do pencil drawings, but they are horrendous.
So I came to this website, to join the community, get help and advice, make friends and buddies and, of course, improve on my art.
If you want to see my IPad drawings, you can visit this link:
http://imgur.com/a/yweH9#0
The drawings are in the album in reverse-chronological order, the first one in the album being the latest one. Keep in mind that those aren't all my works and I just picked the ones I thought were decent.
I hope links to imgur are allowed, I haven't even read the rules dont ban plis

Hello, everyone.
I've spent much of my life doodling here and there, and two years ago I began a college degree in art at a community college. I enjoy painting, digital design, illustrative and comic book (sequential art). I help market indie comics around here and love going to conventions. I am working towards getting better with my sequential art, trying to better enhanace my dynamics and also inking.
When I started my lessons at the community college, I also did practice on my own in addition to my other assignments, things that I enjoyed doing. I feel that extra work really helped me 'jump' artistically.
I work with manga studio, krita, paintshop, and photoshop (although it's not on this computer right now). I would love to learn , and I want to push myself further. I love to be challenged and I don't have an issue with my artistic flaws being pointed out.

Hello all,
I'm new here and thought I'd better introduce myself. I'm currently an out of work computer technician. I studied a little bit of art back in college but only because I had some friends that were also taking the classes. I've never considered art more than a hobby but after lurking around here for a few months I've decided to join this forum to try and take my art more seriously and improve my skills.
