A [small] collection of materials I've a massed in the past few weeks. It will get bigger, and I will update as it does. http://db.tt/3qdKg05I. Enjoy

While I was looking for good references for certain things, I came across these simple but very helpful gems. I'm sure I have more somewhere, but Where, I do not know @u@.

Nathan Fowkes has a really clean approach. He includes good step by steps.

I've been fortunate enough to take some classes at Ron and Vanessa Lemen's Atellier and have learned allot. They have tutorials spread all over the place.

Here's one that is all about drawing sexy figures, so it's NSFW and some of the ref is raunchy, but it's still full of usefull information.

Kevin Chen has a good CA thread.

Portrait Lighting reference app: http://www.digitalpixels.net/2008/12/fla...ight-cage/ - this is really cool; you can select what light sources you'd like to turn on and off.

Movie stills: http://www.allmoviephoto.com/ (they're low-resolution though; not ideal, I know, but still ok for what it's worth)

Free Tutorials and Custom Brushes

Dan Luvisi's tutorials and custom brushes: http://adonihs.deviantart.com/gallery/9827508

Reid Southen's custom brushes, skintone swatches and tutorials: http://rahll.deviantart.com/gallery/27105916

idrawgirls.com - retired concept artist Xia Taptara's site, with tons of free videos and a free brush set for download. He also has longer, more comprehensive tutorials, but you have to pay for those. They come with various other resources though, like custom value palettes, etc.

A great article about working as a freelance illustrator. Deals with rights, usage, pricing, etc.

http://www.jessicahische.is/obsessedwith...of-pricing

UPDATE: The post was renamed or moved and I can't find it. It couldn't hurt to just google her and the art of pricing. Her name is Jessica Hische.

I just noticed the Animation Archive link for composition which Darium posted is broken. I get a 404 Page Not Found error when I click on it.

I did a search for 'composition' on the site to try and see if and found these 20 helpful lessons. I don't know if this is the same info he was linking to but either way, I figured it would be a good idea to share it to add to the composition links :) http://www.animationarchive.org/?p=2033

So I don't know if this is necessary, but I thought it would be nice to have our own reference images. I'm sure a bunch of us here have nice cameras that we take reference photos, so why not share them?

I just like the idea of having a resource for good quality pictures that are totally copyright free (there might already be a better resource site for this). So if you all are up for it, I'll make a photobucket account for us, that we can all use to upload to. Here's an example of what it could be:

Album: http://s143.photobucket.com/albums/r124/...rom%20Zoo/

Password: crimsondaggers

Hope it makes sense!

Apparently the link I posted for the light cage is broken. So, here's a working one:

http://www.photoworkshop.com/pages/light_cage.html

It's a portrait lighting flash app. Basically you select the light source you want and it shows you the light and shadow. It's really helpful.
