Hey Fedodika.
Awesome job with the line work, i´m seing a huge improvement.
Keep posting, keep working because the amount of work you´re putting is showing some fruit.
Soo, tried to color this line drawing and realized it was too ambitious, i need to
Keep
It
Simple
Stupid
Good principle to live by. Aim for the best quality you can get, but I don't hate that I quit this piece. I just found a reference I liked, started over, and Keep it simple stupid. Eventually I'll get back into figure stuff, but i really wanna dabble in some landscapes since that's an area I never went too far in.
Just going to repeat what a few people have already said. You've really grown as an artist over the last year, and the last few months especially. The colors in your recent paintings feel much more natural now, brushstrokes blend in together more nicely, you've started to get a bit of composition and you've really made leaps in learning how to make faces look natural and appealing!
Kek must be favoring you for giving him your memes or something.
Well, today was very interesting! Got some stuff to share about presentation. Soo, near my house every saturday there is a market and I'm going to try and get in the habit of going there and doing street caricature for cash/social experience/practice etc. Last time I did it, it was december 31st I think and I made some money even though there were very few people there (I drew maybe.)
Usually I make twice or three times minimum wage doing caricatures of free and taking tips. This time was very different though, and was the worst experience. I had been growing a beard for a few weeks and my facial hair grows very fast, (it was an inch long at the jaw line.) Turns out people don't see you as approachable when you have a big beard. Figures right?! Every other time I did it was clean shaven, cept the 31's I had some scruff, but it was attractive. Holy shit, going four hours of people thinking your homeless is rough, but it's no skin off my back tbh. Just a learning experience, no more beards!
Even asked people if they thought I looked homeless and most hesitated then said no, but these old ladies were honest and straight up said yea. Plus every other hobo I saw that day had a big beard. So, if you're a caricature artist, make sure you shave, and, put on fairly presentable clothes.
How dare they judge your beard! beards are glorious!.
I know everyone else has said it already but yeah your line work is getting amazing dude, the last piece is beautiful....i'm envious give me your powers!.
Triggered: Don't worry I ain't tired of it ;O. Thanks tho, maybe if you be a koala for a few years, you will get them ;)
Well, time to start in on them figures, still gonna do the art germ studies, and I am doing some caricatures studies on paper each day, but they're not worth posting yet. Did learn a cool trick from them of lightly laying in a shape to establish the proportions and just very roughly drawing in other shapes and kind of sculpting the lines into what i want... Hard to explain, these figures are gonna be a little rough, but everything else I've done up to this point will help a lot, so
Ooh nice work!
Your lines are thin and smooth and I think you are on a great way if you just keep up the pace!
I've noticed that you don't use the whole spectrum from dark to bright in your paintings which could make your paintings even juicier :)
Soo, tried to color that sketch today, I have some ideas of things i'm gonna do tomorrow like fix some edges and play with some hues to try and make it more coherent of a read. It's kind of a weird picture for many reasons, but hey, that's what fedo does!
Look at fedo referring to himself in third person! What a deek head!
hmm I feel like my stuff is close, but still a little bit off. We'll get that fixed up soon, gonna try to do at least 5 figures tomorrow since I'm getting faster, wish me luck!
alrighty, so I tried coloring the first sketch of this thing and realized it was too ambitious, but i will post that nightmare first attempt. It took about 6 hrs of painting it to realize KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID. loll
Anyways, I liked the sketch too much to can it, so I just tried a simpler setup and I like where it's headed now
NoodleInBox: thx! yea just keep going at it... all the time every chance ya get. And take advice whenever you get it, try it out at least even if it's shit advice lel
Knopfka: Thx so much! I'm so happy my journey can motivate you :) When i start getting industry work, I'm going to share folders of all my digital work since i started (relatively.) similar to what Sam Carr, Miles johnston, and Algenpfleger did, since i was really motivated by their progress
IDK what's up with this post thing but it always makes my writing default to a very bright color so you can't see it, or a very small font. Like in my last post i think the letters are just the same tone as the background, it's weird.
More work on this, excited to get back to some linework when I'm done lol. always lookin at boug and ruan jia and guangjian huang when I'm painting; rippin them off for sure lol
I get really inspired just looking at photos on tumblr these days or deviantart. I just see a pose I like and draw the pose and then just make it look totally different from the original. Definitely a great jumping off point, wished i would have done it all along since it makes a better end result and you're not drawing things too off since you have reference. Plus it gives me actual uses for the photo collecting I do on a daily basis for fun. Sometimes I have to just erase entire gigabyte folders I have so many references and pictures.
Did a mock book cover for fun, since i wanted to do this as a kid. Excited to get back to lines tomorrow, here are two studies from deviantart, I'll remember the name later
Thank you for the kind words <3 super sweet update. Love the colors as always cant really critique anything yet (one I'll be on an adequate level for that). I'm already excited for the next post *.*
