thx for the comments fellas! i think im on that quick learning slope for a lil bit i felt small jump in understanding, it must be my hand getting better, soon ill tart to see more mistakes so thatll mean my eye is getting better,

so this was the first turd local colors were now established lineart is "there" but its shit good some places complete utter shit in others however my focus was to get a base to work with

after a few hours i am here, gotta work more on it, cat isnt painted i bumpes sizes to push my focal points ive left space in my vlue range for bright and darker stuff that ill lay in tomorrow

concep challenge stuff forced me to do my first ever set of armors! they crappy but i wanted to get a first start completely from head just using my visual memory, i think thats whats been helping me the most, ive stopped being afraid to fuck up first and then look up answers since now i got questions, when i just copy and then do it it doesnt feel the same

studies after guild wars concept art and last one is mine

took photos of the drawings from yesterday, couldnt sleep so i drew my cat, mofo moevs alot so theyre like 3 mins eaach or something and stuff from head as usual lately

compositions to apply my armore design i did 12 this are the ones i liked the most

thats about it got more stuff but meh lazy to upload, its crap anyways xD ill se you around !

great studies!

I like how you're focusing on the structure, for example the lines on the cat sketches. The one with the dark background is my favorite. I like the shapes and form you captured

For your illustration piece, are you using reference for the lightning?

voodomama: yeah pretty much :/ i kind of wanna re do the line art and painting but leave the composition and placement intact, rather than fixing small mistakes idk tho it feels depressing having to do something 4 times makes me feel bad but i think im learning alot with each time and in this case it would be more for the finnish and wanting to make it look nice, studies about tv glare incoming now that i found some ref and took pictures of my own

hahaha yeah my life has been grids recently fedodika, plus i cant upload what ive recently done since its been mostly ellipses ive done other experiments and stuff tho feels like ive unlocked that reward in my brain for applying practice, work has been tough tho its that part of the year where im swamped with stuff thats not drawing and its depressing gotta squeeeze every second!

Hey Dawckward! Really love your emphasis on structure, it gives your drawings a sold 3D feel.

I'm diggin the two little comps from your last post (particularly the left one), I'm interested to see how they develop if you choose to go through with them. Keep up the good work. :)

after my surgery and recovery i only drew on my sketchbook since i had to lay down, finding my groove on digital again and experimenting time to get back on the horse!

@fedodika thxx, yeah schedule is  bit hectic with 3 jobs but ive managed to do more stuff recently, coming out of a rut tho havent beeng doing as much stuff as id like, im doing a comicbook project as a long form ip development since its an idea ive had for a while.

in the mean time i took pics of my sb today to keep up with my instagram and some sketches im gonna redo on digital and paint, ive been letting my mind work in lapses and just capturing images i come up with throughout the day, also alot of forearms cuz its a weakness of mine ill be tackling those when idk what to draw or just wanna get some mileage in but dont wanna just do mindless copies

ive been feeling energized theese months after a fairly dark period (both parents are sick with chronic illnesses and ive been dealing with that hence the million jobs) but thinks are looking better know, both mentally wise and schedule wise.

anyway long story short ill be back and wanna keep myself motivated so ill be going through the crimson dagger forums again.

heres the dumppp

i really like this small sb, gonna start doing more digital stuff tho

try to get in as much as you can! i think a longer figure study would help, like taking a lot of time to erase and as longa syou need to get a quality piece with say charcoal

hey thx fedodika, i tried it, cant do super long form right now so im gonna grow into it, started doing 1hr poses, but i think what you mean es a multi day, or a couple of weeks drawing, it might be a nice experiment, ive seen more success with tackling specific doubts i have when thinking about structure either anatomy wise or perspective wise but since ive never done it i wanna give it a go.

also here is the longer one and some other longer stuff, i did the figure 3 times xD like i said im warming up to it haha

like a clear photo or master study of a pretty standard pose, maybe in 3 quarter with nice lighting on it. something like this, so you can focus on fixing problems as they arise, anatomy, proportion, and try to hone a design sense. I see youre going for maybe a stylized look, which is fine, but even high profile stylized artists like steven silver do studies like this

if you go back through my sketchbook, around page like 30-50 you can see i drew in a very similar way, i found this sort of efforts helped me push past it

thx leonard, my actual name is leo!, hello after another while, been working on graphic deisng to put food on the table but i still dabble with painting, its hard to get the energyt sometimes but i just do it when i think ill enjoy it and often that leads to efforts on improving.

stuff ive been trying to do lately>

do longer things sometimes, sketching alot, currently redoing fundamentals kinda, and perspective, draftmanshit stuff really. ill be honest im not happy about how my skills are kind of there sometimes sometimes theyre not, i am a bipolar 2 2 and i guess sometimes its hard to cope with anedhonia, after all theese years of wanting to learn to draw and paint i feel like i somewhat can, however unless i do regular job hrs with drawing like 8hrs a day i dont think ill see a crazy bump, not sure if im content with my skills, but rather feel like im at a point where project based learning is gonna do wonders for me, specially just having fun with something ive worked hard to understand and do.

anyways just wanna finnish stuff and start getting things to a finished level. sont wanna polish turds but i think up to a 80% of finnish will help me to not give up on an idea when i fuck it up at first, looking at my own sb i do that alot, fucking up the first time xD and just forgetting to give a damn at times. just losing focus as some might say.

last one is just fun mockup gameplay for a unity game, to learn coding and game dev.

and the others are either pixel art dailes to warm up and longer paintings for friends, both doggos have passed on and i really zoned out painting theese as tribute. both took like 4-6hrs each so like 4 sittings? add 50 mins for the sketch and small thumbs. i have alot of stuff in my traditional sketchbooks but too lazy to photo. might do it later
