Hi! My name is Matheus Chastinet I'm 27 and I'm from Brazil, I'm a former Graphic Designer and I'm studying hard to get into the world of art and illustration. Nowadays I study digital art for games at the Skill Tree course with Yan Kyohara (https://www.artstation.com/yankyohara) and being mentored by Alexandre Leoni (https://www.artstation.com/leoniarte) everything online. I'm looking foward to put myself to prove and post everyday sketchs here to improve my skills and have some feedbacks and critiques :D. Here is my first piece that I'm working on, hope you guys enjoy it. Critiques and feedbacks are welcome! I have some struggles with understanding color and light yet.

Hi there everyone,

Wow writing an introduction can be surprisingly difficult XD, I am 25, and an android/ios developer by profession. I have always loved art from when i was a child but wasn't serious enough, they were just occasional doodles until the last two year of my college life. For two years or so I started learning digital painting, even improved a lot. But due to hectic life, job searching and such I had to leave it all.

Now that things have finally become stable and I had been hesitating all this time lurking around in art forums XD. After I saw sketchbooks of the members here I think I want to start again and get my art to their level.

Though I only have one value study (incomplete -_-) I did yesterday to share at the moment.

I'll be starting my sketchbook here soon enough. Hope you have a nice day and feel free to give critiques to help me improve Toothless

Big Grin Hello Everybody
Posted by: LovindatArt - 11-20-2018, 02:29 PM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (3)

Hello everybody I'm a beginner artist and I'm looking to upgrade my skills. This forum seems to be just what I need.

I would like to draw something like this creaturebox.tumblr.com and https://www.google.com/search?q=moon+gir...aj3lEtnFIM: or at least something like that.

I just started the using the book The Natural Way to Draw. However I'm not sure if that book is going to help much. If this book is okay to study from can anyone let me know? Otherwise I'll do something else either Drawing Made Easy or Draw A Box.

Anyway hope nobody minds if I'm posting my bad beginner art here Tongue .

Bug Long time/No see

Hey, all.

So name’s Mikel, although due to recent events and the general struggle of life, I’m now going by my middle name, Chris, so let’s try that again—

Hey, all! The name’s Christian (“Chris” is fine). Fun fact: I’m actually an old-school Dagger, around from the days when our Lord and Savior, the incomparable Dave Rapoza (just kidding, that’s the kind of stuff he hates) first started the group and everything blew up. I’d started up doing studies and building up technique back in ‘12, but then things kinda got crazy and my Intuos ceased functioning.

I’d planned to replace it at some point but was just never making the kind of money where I could justify frontin’ that kinda cash, so I just put it off until suddenly it’s been six years, and well...here we are!

Circumstances have changed once more, I’m no longer employed, and I don’t really have anything—no tablet, no reputable computer, just an iPad mini, a stack of post-its, a sketchbook, mechanical pencil, and beginners’ set of Crayola watercolors.

I’m just gonna start from scratch (again) and see what happens, do what I can with what I’ve got. And I think now’s as good a time as any to basically make this the opportunity.

We’ll see what happens.

Most of my stuff is updated through Facebook, though I’ll keep a sketchbook here, and I’ve got a twitter (@empathicwriter) if anyone’s interested. I’ve still got all my old DeviantArt accounts and stuff, I just hardly ever use them.

Big Grin Hello!
Posted by: Aranda - 10-23-2018, 11:42 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (1)

Hi all. I've realized that I never show up. My name is Juan Pablo Torres Aranda (yes, typical long Spanish name ...) I am Argentinian, but I have lived and studied art (Classical) in Italy. Sincerely, I have grown tired of classic art (typical model sessions, serious portraits, oil painting, etc etc). For this reason, in recent months I have decided to try to make a jump to my passion as a child (Comics and illustration). I learn from their sketchbooks, so I am very happy to investigate and look at a style of drawing and painting different from the one I learned.

I believe is everything. Mean smile

Hello :) !

I'm a french artist, 27 years old currently, I finished my studies about two years ago and did some small job and internship in 3D . I quit 3D in order to focus solely on drawing and painting, and I'm going to post my studies and progress here in hope to get better and because drawing alone in a cave can feel a bit lonely sometimes.

I look forward to meet with your community and hope we can exchange in order to improve, in joy and smelly oil painting .
That aside, i'm a fantasy and sci lovers, I v been playings a lot of game too and my name is issued from baldurs gate series.

So here are my deviant art and artstation for old works :

I have been drawing all my life and have aspirations to one day make a graphic novel. I spent 9yrs in the navy drawing off and on but my skilled waned quite a bit during that time. I went to college and got a art degree in illustration and worked as a graphic designer for a sign company for a year before I took a job at the patent office as a patent examiner. I still make art and will continue work towards improvement with each piece of work I finish. I look forward to sharing my work here with and hearing feedback and criticism from you. Thanks for looking.

Hello Everyone,

It doesn't look like there is too much activity on the forum these days, but I'll post something and we'll see where it goes. I learned about the forum through a David Rapoza Gumroad tutorial. He mentioned the forum in the tutorial and I thought I would check it out.

I won't be too long here, but let me briefly explain what i do and my goals. I have been sculpting for years, but I did start out drawing. I just ended up focusing on the sculpting and never really developing my drawing skills to the degree I would have liked to. So now I am giving sculpting a rest and starting to spend more time drawing and getting into digital art. I am a complete newbie with digital painting. I learned some basics and completed my first few digital paintings after taking an Udemy course on painting faces taught by concept artist, Hardy Fowler. I have much to learn, and that is part of the reason why I am here. I am hoping to exchange thoughts and ideas with other like-minded artists, and also I was hoping I would find some motivation to continue with my practice through this forum. I work a full time job and sometimes it's not easy to find the time to draw and paint, let alone the drive, but I am not one for excuses, so I am making sure to fit artwork into my schedule each day.

Okay, enough about me. Just wanted to introduce myself and start off by sharing a couple of work-in-progress pics of a painting I am working on now. This is a painting of my niece when she was approximately 12 months old. She is now 22 months. The likeness is not spot on by any means, but it does look like her. I am not too worried in nailing the likeness though. This is more an exercise in painting. So I started out in grayscale, and then I tested out some color, adding the base and red tones with a soft light blending mode in Photoshop.

Both versions are incomplete and need a lot of work. I just wanted to see if I might get some feedback. You can be brutally honest. I am eager to learn and improve. I'm really new to this medium and I want to learn all that I can. I admit it's a bit intimidating when I look at the incredible digital art out there; however, it is also very inspirational to me.

Thank you all for looking and I hope we can have some conversations around art and shared interests.

Thanks,

Jeff
