Hey everyone.
I'm 26 and have recently graduated culinary school. I realized while I was there that art is the only career I see myself doing happily for the rest of my life. So I'm currently teaching myself the techniques to become a concept artist. I'm also gonna dabble in 2D animation. Since art college is too steep for me in price I'm going to study using online tools and forums as well as take classes online and at local Ateliers. 

I'll post my stuff as soon as I can get my scanner to work and download the images. Otherwise I'll have to use my camera or just upload digital works only.

I'm really glad I found a good community of other artists who want to study and learn from each other. I'll try to help out as much as I can and would appreciate any advice you could give me on my art.

Hi All!

So im super stoked to be getting started on this site :) Ill admit i've been wishy washying away in the background since 2015 and not really making any progress, but for the very first time ive decided to do something active and say hello!

All in all, i've decided to kick myself up the bum now that im finishing up with university, so that i can start with a disciplined regime and get my illustration work up to the standard that i want it to be.

I see so many beautiful pieces of artwork featured around here and on facebook and i always think to myself in the most pitiful voice "Awwwwwww i wish iiii could paint like thaaaat xD" and then i end up saying to myself "Well, like? Get some bloody work done then?? Yer lazy nincompoop???" And today i've finally found the resolution to do so haha.

...I talk to myself alot, pay no attention.



So! Glad to be here :) hope to make some friends, aquaintances and colleagues of like minded individuals up for a fun (and most likely gruelling) time of becoming awesome artists :D And thanks for reading my 'hello' post ;)

Hi, My name is Javier Rodríguez, I'm a 24 y/o self taught Illustrator and concept artist. I'm from Chile. I studied animation but the college was so bad that I don't even know why I got into that in the first place, but that motivated me to pursuit my art hobby into something more professional. Hi guys, just popping in to say hello :)

Bit of a quick back story I suppose. I started drawing a good number of years ago, on track to reaching my dream of becoming a professional artist. Just when I was nearly getting there, I fell on some hard times, lost a ton of confidence, got a shitty full time job, stopped drawing entirely, and worst of all, I completely gave up on my goal. Lost pretty much all of my progress and motivation to learn.

So 2 years on, finally getting over some heavy depression and getting my mojo back...*rocky theme tune intensifies*...I'm ready to start all over again. Biggest fear is making bad drawings, so I kind of need to force myself to show my progress to the world and get over it, or I'll never achieve anything!

Phew, sorry for the long winded intro. Now, work work work!

Hello! I go by the nickname of Helianthe and I live in Paris, France. 
Like many I know this forum thanks to Noah Bradley's "Don't go to art school". I bookmarked the forum but never actually signed until now. 
I am currently in an art school, but despite the fact that it is not my first art school and that I have met many people since I finished high school, I never really succeeded in having a group of motivated fellow artists/ friends to hang out with. I have a difficult relationship with schools in general and after a self taught year I joined the school I am currently in, but due to a lot of health issues I missed a lot of classes and so it's been more than 2 years I am more or less on my own. It makes me put a lot of pressure on myself and it kinda makes drawing a stressful activity rather than an enjoyable one, so I've decided to share my drawings and enter a community so it can become a fun and fullfilling experience again. And that's why I'm here!

More on myself:
I am 21. I am really interested in concept art and animation, mostly 2D, and I am currently obsessed with Dragon Age (I finished inquisition and started Origins, planning to finish it once I'm on vacation). I also have a tumblr and other social media accounts but I don't upload them often. I hope to meet you guys on the sketchbook threads (and other threads too!) and will go find myself an avatar and create my own  sketchbook thread as soon as I hit the post button :D
