Wink A amateur from Brazil
Posted by: bonesworth - 03-24-2016, 05:01 PM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (5)

Hello all!

I am a hobbyist from Brazil. My "main" job is a Civil Engineer, but since I was a small child I always enjoyed drawing and illustration. Recently I joined an atelier to help improve my skills, which are... amateurish at best.

I do have a strong interest in comics, however the track to acquire  good technical skills in drawing is the "same": observation, anatomy, structure...

So...without anymore delays, I am looking forward in engaging in the group and learning together!    Wink

Hi! My name is Vitor and I am a 20 years old guy from Brazil. I draw since I can remember and I've decided last year to take art seriously, as soon I realized I would rather spend my life drawing than working on my dead end job. I took a drawing course then, but here comes the second realization: I did not practice enough. By the time I was studying there, I imagined myself drawing much more loosely so I practiced just enough to get those results, but what some would call "style" is more of a limitation now.

Now I am on this awkward spot. I am not a total beginner, but I also know that I have a LOT to improve. I am back to the fundamentals and a more realistic approach (even tough I am not sure about my style yet) and I hope you guys can help me on this journey, critiques or method wise.

Hello crimson daggers

My name is Emmanuel, I'm looking to increase my skills as an artist. I haven't really pinpointed exactly what i want to do as far as whether to be a concept artist or illustrator when it comes to a career. But like many artists i would like to make a living doing what i love. I've been drawing since i was about 3 which is as far as i can remember. Completely self-taught, i tried college but it was way too expensive and everything i need to learn could be learned on my own. That just about raps it up though as far as me being an artist. I welcome anybody to critique my work or for me to critique their's. Or just to chat i'm down with that as well.

I finally did it.
I finally gave in and made an account here.
Hello there, the names Daskini - you may call me Das.
Not my real name, I'm sure you've gathered at this point.
I'm an artist from the land down under, struggling to achieve that goal of 'concept artist' that i've been trying to reach for so long. The jobs here are minimal to say the least.
I have been drawing for many years, worked in the gaming industry for a few of them and fallen back out of it just as quickly. I'm basically here to improve what i can before spamming portfolios at every gaming company that opens its doors...
I will try to post what and when I can. My anxiety tends to get in the way more than work does...
I currently work full time at an IT helpdesk as the graphic designer and website moderator. Not my ideal career path, but a job is a job, right? One day, we will all get what we want :)

Looking forward to getting started :D

Hey there~ New here, I haven't been around an art community for so long so I hope to make some new friends and grow here :)

Say, any advice on how to make it for an art student like me who lives in a 3rd world country? I've seen and read all these articles and interviews on how to become a concept artist, but most can't really apply to me in my country. I'm just studying and trying to improve my work the best I can, but in terms of trying to get a job, I'm totally clueless.

Does anyone with a similar origin care to share their ideas? Especially on being able to make it to the west.

Hi guys, I'm Kevin. I recently had to leave school due to circumstances outside my control. So I've decided to take the plunge and join up with the crimson daggers. I look forward to making some friends online that get "it". Later.

Hello. Is this the place with the art people?

Hey everyone. I'm a 23yr-old ...software engineer ...sigh... currently residing on the west coast of the United States. After being bored and depressed out of my mind by the 'top 10' cube farm for the past 2 years, I'm thoroughly disillusioned with the software industry as a place where I can better myself. Shoulda seen that coming, huh?

I want to recapture the creative spirit that has gone out of my life and finally acquire the skills to capture my visual thinking on paper (or a screen). I'm about as good at art now as I was in middle school, which is just shameful. To be fair, I was pretty freakin' good for a middle-schooler; I'm benchmarking against what I could have been had I seriously dedicated time to art in the intervening decade, and the amount of wasted potential infuriates me deeply.
To reclaim at least some of that potential, I am embarking on a focused endeavor to get as good at illustration as humanly possible, starting from zero.

I am currently two weeks into DrawABox, with the short-term goal of shoring up my fundamentals enough to be able to take the intro CGMA classes this coming May (assuming I can get in).

A person I deeply respect recommended this forum as a place to keep me accountable, so here I am. Looking forward to improving with everyone here!
