Hi! I am a high school student aiming to work as hard as possible to improve before heading off to college in a year. I've heard many artists say that forums are a fantastic way to "level up" your skills so here I am hahahaha

I found the forum via facebook. Figured that joining might be a good idea.
I just want to be a better artist. I've been doing this pretty much my whole life, but I've been trying to take this more seriously since I want to paint as a career.
I like painting fantasy stuff and people. I hate painting environments, so I'm trying to force myself to at least try them out.
I'm really bad at networking too. I tend to stress myself out when talking to strangers online and offline. Trying to improve with that too.
Anyway, can't wait to dive in!

Hey guys
My name is Kuba and I've discovered this site (yep, just now!) through facebook. Although I've seen it before, never really dove into it and I've certainly never seen the forums.
Which are awesome.
I've been painting for some time now and what I've been really struggling with is the feedback, or lack thereof. I've been trying to put out stuff on CgHub, Deviantart and all these sites but what you get there are numbers, mostly. You start seeing yourself putting stuff out there just to resurface for a while. The quality of work basically isn't that important, and learning is super hard while you don't get much feedback. It's the thing Dan and Dave were talking about in some super old podcast, people just shoot out an 'awesome!', a meme, or a totally irrelevant comment. Don't have too many friends that are into art so I've been using facebook for following digital artists mostly. I guess I stagnated and swamped myself in commisions, without the best goddamn aspect of art, which is getting better and learning. I also tried to make a blog, and asked for feedback but didn't get too much traffic since I totally suck at advertising/networking or how do you call it.
I started painting while CgHub was still around, never got to use the 'sketchbook model' which apparently is the nuts for getting valuable feedback. Also, people here seem to be awesome and the work ethic and all this, I'm super pumped, so, hi! I hope to learn a lot with you guys as this seems to be a great place for it!
Any clues about whaddya do now would be awesome :D (a sketchbook, a group?)

Hey everyone! I heard about this site through an old Brad Rigney interview with Dave Rapoza and decided to sign up.
I've been trying to teach myself art for a little while now (off and on) and decided that it'd help a lot if I could communicate with artists.
I don't really know any artists in real life unfortunately, not a lot of my friends or classmates (my major has nothing to do with Art) are particularly interested in this sort of thing.
I look forward to learning with you all!

Hey guys, Thanks for unwillingly letting me join your great community!
Here's a little about me:
I've been drawing off and on since I was able to hold a pencil. There have been periods of up to several years in between drawings through out different points in my life. These last few weeks I've been regaining my interest in the arts.
My goals as an "artist" for the time being is to improve my use and understanding of anatomy and perspective, learn to capture light and color in an aesthetically pleasing way and gain greater confidence in my current three drawing mediums: pencil, oil color and my newest tool digital painting (photoshop w/ wacom tablet).
I started my first digital painting earlier this week while working from a photo I took last weekend.
I'd say the most of my experience is in drawing with pencil, then oil color (pretty limited, somewhere around 2 or 3 finished paintings and a dozen unfinished paintings) and finally my newest hobby digital painting with a tablet.
I have very little experience with color and have almost no formal education save for a couple of local drop in intro art classes. I did just order a huge heap of books based on some recommendations I found on the internet and I'll be working through them this summer.
Here's a link to my sketchbook with it's lone entry:
Chairfight's Lil Sketchbook
Thanks for reading my post and I'll see you around!

Hi all! Been checking these forums on and off for a while now and thought it was probably about time to stop hiding and just join already. I'm 30 years old, USA (near DC), and just started freelancing in illustration last year. I've been practicing art, and digital art since I was old enough to figure out a computer but never really immersed in it fully until just recently. Now I've realized how much more learning I have to go, and really need some critique on how to get better. I've been drawing just about every day, and it's a start, but it's still not quite cutting it, in terms of where I'd like to/need to be. :/ I'm hoping that being here will help change that!
Also trying to turn art into a fully fledged career because of being a bit ill (though recovering still) and housebound, on account of having way too many autoimmune/allergy health conditions. (autoimmune peeps, if there are any here, get at me, and we can discuss health stuff~~). Being able to work full time from home would be pretty ideal, needless to say.
Anyway my art blog is here, I have a few comics here, and my behance portfolio is here. Let's art! :)
