  Hey everyone!
Posted by: Lainface - 04-18-2015, 01:33 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - No Replies

My name is Alaina but we're just gonna get comfy with my moniker Lainface. I have been an aimless ronin when it comes to my creative endeavors for the past five years (ouch). I am avoiding feeling like a shameful 26-year-old and am continually pushing myself to forget my stupid, confusing years and get settled with this art thing!

I have varied interests--illustration, animation, and graphic design--and I am officially inducting myself into my own Apprentice stage before making a real attempt at starting with freelancing. I like designing characters and have since developed an interest in designing album covers, posters and t-shirts. As such, I am interested in color, branding, typography and lettering and I would LOVE to develop some illustration skills. So time for some major fundamentals training.

In any case, I was directed here via re-reading Noah Bradley's article "Don't go to art school" and I have been somewhat desperate for artistic comradery outside of Facebook (it always feels IMPOSSIBLE to stay focused on just art there often). I'm looking forward to connecting and growing with many of you and I look forward to seeing all the amazing art work, projects and WIPs here!

Hi there!

I've never joined a community like this before, and I'm giving it a shot. Drawing can be such a solitary experience, and I've been putting off alternative ways of socializing with like-minded people for far too long. When I talk about art to non-artist friends, I often feel like I'm talking to a wall or am unsure as to whether I'm making sense at all.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to checking out everyone's work and sharing my stuff. I went to school for art, but that was more than a decade ago. After a long and varied career in tech (UI, front-end dev, interaction design), I decided to get back into illustration and make a radical career change. There are so many resources now online for teaching oneself, that I feel like I'm quickly able to pick up on where I had left off, and further develop my life drawing skills. Honestly, I really question the value and quality of my fine arts education, but nevertheless, it's really up to you to take it to the loftiest level that you can, and that extends outside of the art school walls.

If you want to check out my work, it's at: http://jqln.org. I don't know if realism is a style that I want to develop into, but I plan on doing studies and improving my figure drawing.

Hey,

my name is Mus i'm 22 yrs young and from germany, i started to become serious about art on 2013, and drew pictures without doin studies etc.. I started doing studies and stuff on October 2014, since then i stick to it.
My main materials are pen and paper, i do digital stuff too.
In the future I want to become a concept-artist, illustrator, storyboard-artist, these are my goals and dreams!
I will start my sketchbook here and i hope for some critique, so i can improve faster :)
That's enough, have a great time!

Thank you all!

My name is Matt Jordan, and I'm currently a starving artist selling commissions for food and coffee. My dream is to become a professional illustrator and designer, and I've heard that you lot are just the right people to whip a starving artist into shape! I'm looking forward to learning and growing with this community.

Here are some of my things:

I'm here trying to keep my enthusiasm alive, and to remember that I need to draw regularly. :D I'm not good, I'm not bad. My drawings look like people. I need to practice more. I got to this site by reading an article on "Should I go to Art School?" I'm about to finish my Political Science program in two months, and wondering whether I need art school or not. Not having a definite path is making me itch.

Wink Hi there

Hello!
I have recently been feeling that I am slacking in my drawing, and art...I really want to improve and get motivated with others. I am going to art school next year, majoring in 2d animation. I know that animation requires a lot of drawing, and so I need to prepare. I also just want to be more disciplined with art in a cool art community.

First post here, wooo!
I finally decided to leave my hideout and to start being more active.

I'm Cris, I'm a girl annnd I'm brazilian. I started drawing a long time agoooo, probably because of anime, but to be honest, I've been kinda slow in my learning process, and in part I blame unversity.
This year I've been drawing a lot more since I graduated Thinking So yeah, I've been practicing drawing/painting every chance I can. I'm trying to make a habit out of it.

About my skills, my weakest part is probably landscape and imaginative stuff.
Strongest part? Probably portraits but they're not that great either.

So yeaah, I've been lurking here in the mentoring/classes and saw a lot of great content there! I'm pumped

Hello guys,
my name is Matthew, I 'm drawing stuff like concept art and illustrations. Most of the time I do studies for my personal improvement of my skills in drawing / painting / sketching. I'm thinking of starting a sketchbook here. I wanted to know if the community here is active and warm :D
