  Hello Everyone!

Hello!
I'm excited to be here, I used to be a lurker at CA nearly 20 years ago (when I was in middle school). After a 20 year hiatus I started drawing again about 6 months ago and it feels good. I hope I can make up for lost time

yes hi hello!

I am a hobbyist form Sweden, looking to improve my craft! I am nowhere near the level of you guys but I guess y'all are stuck with me now ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I am equally excited and terrified to be here to be honest lmao But I figured keeping a sketchbook here will be a neat way to track my progress!

See you around!

Hey, I'm Jasen! That's my given name with the "e" lol. I was looking for an online space top post my drawings since it seems like every other place I've tried is dead.

I like to draw just like you all and although I'm not a professional artist at the moment, I want to be a comic book artist as a career goal. Right now I'm in the early stages of developing a webcomic and it's going to be my first attempt at making a comic that I made for other people to see.

I like drawing people, but I'm not very good at drawing literally anything else in relation. So I'm hoping that I can improve in those areas while im here, and also it'd be cool to chat here I think.

alright, thats it from me mostly, I'll bookmark this website so I can come back to it again. Thanks for reading, and if you wanna ask anything feel free to PM me :D.

The attachments I provided are rough draft character sheets for the webcomic I am making. I'm gonna make some changes to them though so i think it's pretty safe to post them here.

  Hey!
Posted by: Mutley - 07-30-2021, 12:35 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (2)

Hey,

My name's Matt.

I work as a pixel artist professionally but my art fundamentals are still shaky. Working on tiny sprite graphics at low resolutions I can get away with a lot of crimes against anatomy and perspective but I'd like to improve. First to make my pixel work better, but also so I can take on other work as well.

So my plan is to get a sketchbook thread on the go and get in to the habit of regularly sketching and studying. I've floated around various forums in the past (was on CA, ImagineFX UK forum, Permanoobs) and have done life drawing classes on and off for years (shut down because of Covid at the moment...).

Hopefully I can make some progress here and maybe help out other members too.

CA lurker since 2003 to its dying days.

I participated back in CA during its beginning a bit, but more of a lurker than anything. I come from a~ practical family, so wanting to do this for a living spun them for a loop. I'm back to fight their influence on my decisions though. Hope to make real progress here, and to be able to share my growth along with everyone else.
Thank you for existing.

Hello everyone!
I found this forum five-ish years ago, posted a few images, and then life ran away with me. I know, excuses are excuses and I plan on exercising discipline this time around.
I'm a brand new person, so I thought I'd post a new introduction thread.
Who am I now?
I'm a 37 year old stay at home mom, caring for a 1 year old. Still love metal, and a plethora of other music, but its no longer my sole personality trait Insane . I found out I am narcoleptic, so that explains so much about my lack of energy and commitment in the past. My free time is so much more sporadic now, but I tend to fill it with art more than I used to, and I'm determined to improve and grow FOR MYSELF, whereas I used to just want to impress other people.
My main medium was digital art, but I'm now going back to my humble beginnings and strengthening my traditional art. Currently I'm playing with toned paper, ohuhu markers, and colored pencil... and its just so much more inspiring. Limited tools tend to spark my creativity and push me farther than digital. When I picked up the pencil again for the first time in years, I realized my skill level was not on par with my digital art because I was too used to the shortcuts the medium provides. Now I have to actually take time to think about composition, proportions and colors whereas with digital I knew I could just change things with the click of a button.

My main goal is to start drawing regularly again, as I'm sure the rest will follow with consistent practice. I started a sketchbook for the first time since I was a teenager, which is a Big Deal because I often pushed myself to finished pieces with no real thought or practice behind them. I'm slowly becoming ok with my art not being "perfect" all at once.
I was doing pretty ok meeting my goals of drawing a little every day, but last month got derailed due to the traumatic loss of a family member. I figured I could either keep moping (which is totally valid) or I could use it as a kick in the ass to do the things I love, soooo here I am!
Thanks for having me back :D

  introduction [hello]

Hi everyone!

This is my first art community experience and I'm very excited about it.

[Sorry in advance for possible mistakes, English is not my first language]

- I'm mostly self-taught, took some traditional art classes back in 2014 and almost at the same time started using a tablet.

- I mostly draw characters but lately I'm focusing more on environments. The last few years I was focusing on values and lighting and a little bit on color.

- In dire need of feedback and criticism right now - previously I was always feeling too shy to show my scribbles to anyone.

- My main goals are 1- improving & 2 - finding a digital art related job.

- Would love to meet like-minded people!

Thank you for reading and have a great day!

P.S.: I've also uploaded a sketchbook today ;) will try my best to update it regularly.

hey guys

i found this place when i was looking around for somewhere to get proper feedback on my art; while instagram is cool and all, it's hard to get critiques there.

some quick things about me:
- 15 years old
- instagram username: _miraculor77_ -- follow me if you like my stuff
- kpop lover -- Nctzen, Army, Stay, but i listen to many more artists
- love coffee, matcha, chai, milk tea, green tea
- books <33 - The Mortal Instruments, Six of Crows Series, Maximum Ride Series, Legend Trilogy, and many more uwu

i'll be opening a sketchbook thread (is that what you call it) soon, and it would mean a lot to me if you could check it out. :) i'll only be posting new sketches, though, so it'll probably take me a while to get stuff on there.

hope to see you all around,

- mira

  Hi, Crimson Daggers!
Posted by: chadrach - 05-03-2021, 08:01 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (2)

Hi, everyone. My name is Chad. I know, I know…but I promise I’m not that kind of “Chad”. HA!

So, a bit about me…

Well, I’m a graphic designer by day, though my dream has been to work in concept art/design for the film and video game industries and comic books. I’d like to make that move full-time one day. I have been on and off with art over the years, but now that I’m a little older and focused, I’m really finding my passion again, and I am falling in love with the process of creating art, and not just focused solely on the outcome.

I registered on here about 5 years ago, but I came in as a casual user. I would like to participate more on CD, as I do really miss these kind of art forums. Already, I can tell I am going to really love it, as the art here is excellent and inspiring.
