Sula's Sketchbook
Holy crap you have some nice pieces in here lately. Can you explain the reasoning behind - painting characters doing mundane things? Is it just as a way to flesh out the story or is there some purely artistic benefit?
Not saying it looks bad or weird (I've always found the subject matters the old masters painted was a bit strange) just curious is all

I couldn't control myself, sorry:D

@iCi: mwhaha have you been watching Kripp's channel on twitch?
@Fedodika: Yay! I'll probably start working on it, yep :)
@Jaik: Not sure if artist benefit - it's just a small list of reasons. People are pressuing me to work on a personal project, on all sides; I don't know if I can write a story, so I have been trying to work around that. I need a new portfolio, and mundane scenes will stand out against all other badass-LoL-like-loading-screen, placeholder magic card or Sci-Fi with ships and explosions, you know? Also, the best way to work on MY characters, I guess. I am not a writer, but I sure have done a bit of roleplaying... In some ways, this mudane scenes captures much more personality and story than a Cool guy don't looks at explosions thing.
@Doolio: hahahah not far from my intent, just another style :p

As i said before - awesome study!
and regarding your own work - if you don't feel like writing you still may take a good book and depict the scenes therefore make them your own. Just don't take a book that has a movie already - those tend to overshadow the own ideas of characters and designs. I still hope that one day i have the skills to make the "fafhrd and the gray mouser" illustrations i have in my head.

Not sure why I didn't comment yet, because it's been a while since I've seen that cool 'weird' portrait in post #1131. I think the combination of the colors, light, long neck, thin arm etc works really nice. Some unintrusive little rain drops bouncing off her would fit in nicely as well I think, because right now the grunge texture and the way her hair behaves kind of looks like it is wet, but otherwise kind of not rainy. Anyway... Very cool painting. Triggers lots of emotions.

Also. NSFW sounds good to me :P Nice crystal.

I thought the grim reaper was giving me the finger for a second there XD The bottom half of the composition is kind of dead. Unintentional pun.

The last one rocks! It may be too zoomed out so the bottom is, as Haze said, a bit empty.
Loving it!
