  Hey y'all!
Posted by: Raedrob - 05-11-2013, 07:12 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - No Replies

Hey,
my name is Robert, but I tend to go by the name Raedrob on the internet.
I'm 21 years and picked up digital drawing around Christmas '11.
I used to draw a lot when I was younger, but at the end of primary school I stopped completely. The whole reason for picking it back up may seem a bit silly to some, but at the time I was truly enchanted by My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (I still am tbh). For about the first year that was all I cared about drawing, but I've gotten more interested in expanding my art recently.

I've done studies for a little while, but I want to try and make them more regular and I usually do some croquis gesture drawings as warm ups each day in an attempt to get the roughs of the human body in my head. If I get to do what I want, I'll be starting a bachelor in virtual art and design this autumn, and my overall goal with my art is to be able to use it to sustain myself. I consider myself mediocre at best at this point, but I always strive towards improving!

I found this whole community by chance, and hope I'll be able to improve during my stay here!
I'm not 100 % sure how things work around here, but I'll be sure to do some reading.

If you're interested, feel free to stop by my gallery: http://raedrob.deviantart.com/gallery/

If there's any questions, feel free to ask.

Cheers,
Robert

  Hello Buoy

Hi. My name is Ed (not really), and I am not a good artist (really). Better artists make me feel bad (rlyrly) and the only person I know that draws as well threatened to ground me and send me to my room if I didn't join. (Nexuunrly)

But I do love to draw. As a child, I drew on walls, cardboard in markers, painted, and all that. When I see great artists that say they've been drawing/painting since they were little, this doesn't occur to me though. I stopped at 13, feeling as if I could never get any better since I did the same thing over and over again. I feel as if I didn't start drawing again for a good reason. Others start to learn because it's a dream of theirs, because they love it and need it.

Me? I started last year, late July (the 28th, to be exact), because I wanted to draw a sequential comic. So, yeah, um, I don't feel very deserving. But naturally, over time the desire to make that comic disappeared, and now I just want to get past gestures. Oyvey.

I told myself then it was going to be a long road before I could draw, but I don't think I knew then, and I still don't think I know now. I consider myself a doodler, not an artist, so I'm a work in progress, but at least a WIP is better than something you never bothered to put any effort into.

Thank you.

  Sooo new right now!

My name's Mike Garn, age 27, from Phoenix Arizona. In early 2010 I started learning digital painting. I didn't start taking this seriously and studying on a regular basis until about a year ago. I'm self taught having relied on internet sources and books to learn from. I used to really suck at this stuff but through dedication and hard work I've noticed improvements.

My goals are to continue to improve as a concept artist and illustrator. I also want to help other artists improve too. I want to turn drawing into my primary source of income by mid summer (or sooner) so I don't have to have a second job anymore and do what I love. I'm hoping that by being apart of the Crimson Dagger community I can get even more leverage on my study habits and get some awesome insight on how to improve. I can take a brutal crit, so don't hold back.

Here's some sites I'm on and some recent images I've done. Any comments or questions feel free to speak up! Thanks for reading this!

Hello my name is Stewart, I am 29 years old, about two months ago I decided to try to create a board game that has been floating around in my head for a while. As I researched it I found out how much the art for a game would cost, so then I decided to do the art myself….let me just say that before that I had no experience in art at all, I never took art in high school or college never really drew anything but stick figures before…so I went out a bought a Wacom tablet that came with some illustration software… what I found out is that it is not very easy, but I also found out I really enjoy drawing.
I have come to the realization that I will most likely have to put my game on hold until I have developed my skills to a higher level. I stumbled upon this site while I was scouring the internet looking for instructions on drawing.
At this point I think I need to develop a foundation as far as perspective and proportion go. I really need to learn the basics. So if anyone can direct me to a good place for a very beginning artist it would be greatly appreciated.
Here is a link to my sketchbook, almost everything is concept art for my board game.

Hey everyone, how are we all?
Posted by: Johnno - 05-07-2013, 04:13 PM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (2)

Hey there, my names John, nice to meet you all!
I've come from conceptart and deviantart trying to improve, but haven't made that much progress as of yet. I've been drawing on and off for a few years, and procrastination is pretty much my middle name by now lol.

I'm 21 years old from down under, I studied architecture after high school and now work night fill as I try and improve on drawing. I have the time, I just need to do it haha. I haven't got much art education, just high school which was basically do whatever you want lol

After over a year of not drawing I've realized how much I need it in my life, and I know I want it to be my career.

My end goal is to be a freelance illustrator or something like that, but ultimately I just want the ability to express the ideas and concepts I come across. I know what I want, but motivation is always an issue, as I'm quite lazy haha.

Hopefully I'll be updating soon, thanks for reading :D

  Hello Everyone!

Hello everyone! My name is Adori and I am a tiny junior in highschool.

I've started my art career when I was very young and I've been drawing aimlessly for a while, but only recently have I decided to buckle down and really put forth effort to improve my art.

My main goal is to invoke more depth in my drawings, improve and gain confidence on drawing backgrounds, improve my digital painting skills, get a full grasp of colour theory, draw animals more, and improve on my realism.

I hope that I am able to help you reach your goals, as you are able to help me reach mine!

  Hey Guys
Posted by: Centum - 05-07-2013, 07:42 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - No Replies

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to say hi to the community here and introduce myself a bit.

My name is Ethan Brewerton, I graduated from the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts (Long name, I know) back in 2011. It's a very small traditional school that, when I graduated was transitioning to a more Illustration friendly atmosphere.

I was taught a lot of traditional, observational skills but now I struggle with translating that into comic and concept art that I'm currently trying to get into. Also, I've focused so much on anatomy and perspective that I now have found that I'm working very hard on developing dynamic compositions and lighting. Also, I recently started the battle of the tablet, I use an Intuos 4, and translating my pen and paper skills to digital is taking some getting used to.

I have a blog at www.ESBrewerton.blogspot.com

Basically, long story short. I've got traditional training that I thought I could translate more easily into this profession, but now I'm feeling lost and would like any sort of help I could get. I will be posting around and hopefully become a part of this community.

See you guys around,

Ethan

Yo guys :D Aaron over here
Posted by: aangkat - 05-05-2013, 05:03 PM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (4)

My name is Aaron and I am from Sweden from the north :)
It is pretty cold over here, anyways ^_^

I realized that I love drawing pretty late. Like last summer, so I kind wasted time.
Ever since I begun, I learned new things all the time. I realized art is so much harder than I thought. There is so much to learn and it is a life time thing.
I do art because I have dreams like everybody else.

My motivation is fear. Fear to fail in not reach my goals :) I think that is pretty common.
Unlike most of your guys, I am not going to art school :/ I am reading this stupid engineering.
5 painful years and I cannot quit, because I cannot let my mother down (I am originally from Ethiopia).

I want to improve faster and therefore I joined this forum :)
I hope people will help me out, because I will be always there to support you guys. We are kind in the same boat ^_^

Have a nice drawing time ^_^

Hey guys,

My name is Nicolas Tyler Doyle. i chose Cheese Tickles cuz i guess i thought it was funny. I try my hardest at getting better at my craft.

I want to be a concept artist, like alot of us surely want.

My favorite artists include Dave Rapoza, Jaime Jones, Kekai Kotaki , Jan Urschel , James Paick and Craig Mullins just to name some names i really look up to and try to emulate and study.

I go to Academy of Art University and it is my third semester (2nd Year) . So when i have free time i can try the bloodsports challenges if i dont have homework to do like charcoal drawings and such.

you can find me at facebook and insta gram by searching my name Nicolas Tyler Doyle.

thanks guys, for reading this. and thank you Dave and Dan for creating such an inviting forum for passionate people to pursue their dreams and get feedback.
