Here's a wip of a character a friend asked me to draw. Pretty challenging stuff for me, never really drawn wings before so it'll be awesome to try. And some water and skin training as well.
Feel free to leave a comment or, whatever ;P

Oooh, tons of hard work in here. I know I said this before in other peoples posts but watch out with those gestures. You should really be focusing on the pose instead of the exterior form body.
Here is an EXAMPLE
Remember to lay in the spine line first to capture the movement always. Study the example well, especially the one at the end; It will help tons in those quick gesture studies.
Also, don't forget to add in those construction lines when doin the faces, maybe even include the planes just so it looks more three dimensional.
Either way keep fightin you're churnin out loads of good work!

Sup man. I like your pencil work, especially the monsters and brutes. I feel that your work is a little blocky and doesn't have a sense of natural flow. A good exercise you're doing is gesture exercises. Another thing you can do is when going digital work, after you finish your sketch, you open a new layer and simply redraw the image. With everything blocked out, you can just focus on making confident brush strokes and unifying the image.

@ Vatteh: Thanks for the crits there :) I have only made one traditional painting (the one in this post) and I'm not that confident when painting digitaly. That tip seems like a great exercise, since I often end up messing about too much with the strokes: "Gotta have form, but it's gotta be smooth too, not too blocky and messy...but..a sense of texture as well-SHIIIEEEE"
So here's my first attempt at traditional painting. Did a study of Anders Zorn's Knitting maid piece. Even tho I didn't get to spend so much time with it, I felt like it was a great practice over all. Gotta do more of these, building up painting confidence and knowledge and realising that I don't have to try to paint "fast" just because I can (so easy to do that digital compared to traditional)
Now I actually HAVE to think before placing a stroke ;P
Also, more gesture things from school. Drawing with a live model.

wow so many gestures Good job with all of that dude.
I like how you transitioned to doing tone, or at least that's what I think you are doing. If that is the case, then my suggestion would be to try start subordinating some of those small tones for the sake of the larger two tones black and white.
Here's a short paragraph with an example by andrew loomis http://gurneyjourney.blogspot.com/2009/0...tones.html

Hi there Adzerak!, I notice that you struggling with drawing in Gesture
let me give you some tips
1. First dont draw the silhute, gesture is about drawing the emotions and felling of the subject,
not what the subject looks like.
try to draw without lifting the pen, doing this will eventually help you to see whats neccery in a gesture and whats not,
note ( learning this take time and i dont mean like a Day or two )
2. try to simplify as much as you can, you don't need to draw the whole subject to express its emotion or movement.
3. when you undertand how to draw in gesture, you can use it in anything basically
Note I have neither watch or read any real tutorial about drawing in Gesture, so all this info needs to be taking with a grain of salt,
every person learns differently, I hope this will help you in someway. so keep on Fighting man xD
